taleb Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Just so you know, I'm a noob at this sim. Is there an easier way to select targets in sim mode? I move the sights using the SLEW CONTROLs, and must do it after every hit . That just seems too time consuming. I'd imagine that the computer can auto detect some of the targets - I don't think that real A10 pilots spend time doing this after each hit. thanks in advance for any help
kylania Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 and As you can see, you can setup multiple targets as Markpoints before you even get into range and switch between them quickly using the Steerpoint switch. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie
Frederf Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Nope, it's all one at a time by eye and can take a while to attack more than one target. Certainly it's an area where future Gen5+ attack aircraft might be improved, being able to analyze a wide area and pick out items of interest to step through.
gekoiq Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Yep, one at a time. The real world is sometimes less glamorous than it is portrayed. Far more rewarding when you get it right though.
Sticky Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 I think the Longbow radar can do that. Perhaps if the next DCS is Longbow you can kill them faster ;) I am quite happy with how it works now :) Like gekoiq said its far more rewarding, otherwise we would all be flying the A10 in HAWX instead. I think you will like it more once you get better at it and can to do it faster. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] My Sim/Game CV: Falcon 1,3,4. Gunship. A10 TankKiller. Fighter Bomber. Strike eagle 2&3. taleb Posted November 10, 2010 Author Posted November 10, 2010 thanks guys! i suck so bad at it that i have to fly miles out and turn around to set the next target. and it becomes more dangerous when getting close to targets that can shoot back at you! so i have to fly miles away again :) this is fun though! can you slew using a mouse instead of left, right, etc. ?

Do you have a HOTAS? If not then maybe thats why you are having a hard time with it.. You should get TrackIR and a good HOTAS for this sim!! You need far to many hats and switches for a regular gaming joystick do be enough. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] My Sim/Game CV: Falcon 1,3,4. Gunship. A10 TankKiller. Fighter Bomber. Strike eagle 2&3. taleb Posted November 10, 2010 Author Posted November 10, 2010 i have Saitek X52. is there a big difference? and TrackIR rocks! this beta seems jumpy with TrackIR, do you see that too? i'm surprised by the quick response on this thread - thanks
Sticky Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Then thats not the problem, you just need more time with it :) 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] My Sim/Game CV: Falcon 1,3,4. Gunship. A10 TankKiller. taleb Posted November 10, 2010 Author Posted November 10, 2010 can the MAV designator use a markpoint set by the TGP?
gekoiq Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Yes, in a round-about-way. Just like the videos show for using JDAMS. Use your markpoints to create a flightplan, load that flightplan, set spi to steerpoint and then cycle through your steerpoints and use the "slave all to spi" command (china hat forward long) voila you are pointed at one of your markpoints and can cycle by using DMS up short (with hud as soi) and then "slave all to spi" with china hat forward long.
Frederf Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 The only thing the Maverick can be slaved to is the SPI. However one can manage to make the mark point location the SPI, do that first. (Restatement of above)
ACUTech Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Hey, you know the saying: practice makes perfect. :music_whistling: The more you practice the faster you will become at picking up targets. No big secret here  =ACU=Tech TECH Systemes Computer 1 Computer 2 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
