I normally use the Instant action, East Georgia - Spring mission for training. Is it possible to temporarily change the weapon loadout using the Mission Editor for one flight only so I don't re-write the default mission. I have tried changing the weapons but the mission editor asks me to save the changes before I can fly it.

Apart from this simple task I have never used the Mission Editor before, so don't really know what I'm doing :huh:

No, not without saving.

However, you can radio the groundcrew and ask for a new type of loadout when doing a Rampstart or landing to rearm.

Do I need to set intercom up for this?

Are you sure? In my experience you can change what you like, Not save the changes to file and just fly the changes for 1 mission.

When you arrive back in the mission editor you will still have those changes you made. However, they will be lost if you Exit and do not save them to a file.

Here's how I did it:

Click Mission -> Quickstart -> en ->

Select the mission you wish to edit, in your case "East Georgia - Spring.miz". ->

Open it and go into the mission planner.

Select your aircraft so the menu system pops up and from there, save the mission as "East Georgia - Spring_2.miz" or whatever you like. I like naming them in order of my edits. _2, _3, etc.

Exit mission planner, re-open your newly saved _2.miz and edit your payload without concern of messing up the original instant action.

Enjoy.

Just say no to the save and it will load the mission with your changes but next time it will be the original. Hope this makes sense

Thanks for your help on this subject.

I have just loaded the mission in the Mission Editor, changed the ordnance and selected fly. It does say the changes will be lost if you say No to saving the file, I pressed No but when the mission loaded it still had the new weapons I selected.

When I re-loaded the mission from the Instant Action menu the original (default) loadout was still there.

So it seems to work for one mission only :thumbup:

Glad to be proved wrong - must be the \temp\tempMission.miz that contains the changes and thats the one you're flying then. :)
