Namenlos Ein Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 From the A-10 Pilots Coloring Book …the chances of hitting the barrel are about as good as your leaving Bangkok with a "Red Barron" pasted to your forehead. What is all about? Is this sentence referred somehow to David Irenus “Red” Barron baseball player? Or is it just mistyping “Red Baron”?
Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 "Red Baron" refers to Manfred von Richthofen who is till today a Legend. He was a top notch fighterpilot ACE in world war 1 with eta 82 confirmed kills. In that script above RedBaron is used as synonym for "ACE". A decent, but not fully accurate cinema movie about his life can be seen here: http://www.redbaron-themovie.com/index_en.html
kylania Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 What's leaving Bangkok got to do with it than? Was there an air base there in the late 70s? Is it a jibe about an A-10 pilot never being an ACE? That seems to be the most logical/topical reference being a pilot and all, but I still think it's some dirty sexual thing. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie
Jinro Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 I found this from Google: " "Don't do it Lek," Gunnar thought to himself. "Don’t make me tell a monk that his niece is the Red Barron of Bangkok.”" I'm not linking the page because it's very.....explicit in its verbiage (no pics, you perverts) Google also says there's a motorcycle shop in Bangkok called "Red Baron", but that's with only one r.
