Yes, you're not buying the Beta product. You're pre-buying the finished product (when it comes out) and get free access to the Beta in the meantime.

Kind regards,

First, thanks for you response. In answer to your comment :

"Yes, you're not buying the Beta product."

No disrespect intended but yes I kinda am as I can't test the product until I fork over 60 bucks and they get free testers in the process(good testers cost a lot.)Well thanks anyway I have all the information I need .

True but what you are doing is buying the final product with a bonus BETA with it. Not all games have a BETA like this so I would jump at the chance to do it.

archerhawk,

ED does not rely on this venue as it's main test pipeline. The main benefit that these betas give the developers is greater coverage of hardware - the people in the closed testing team tend to be enthusiasts which causes an over-representation of certain types of hardware and under-representation of others.

Also, this is nothing special for ED. EA and DICE did pretty much the same thing for Bad Company 2, the same happened for Call of Duty and many other games: deals like "give your money up front and play today" are common.

This is not intended as a demo, and if what you want is some guidance on whether this is the game for you I would suggest either talking to those that are in the open beta (the Tester Team is under NDA and can only discuss things that are already made public) or reading previews/reviews.
