Can't search the Beta forum

If you try to search the Beta forum, you cannot. If you go to the advanced search page, it does not exist in the list of available forums to search under.

 

Say you want to search Titles Only in the Beta forum...

 

Steps:

-------

Nav to the Beta forum

Click "Search This Forum"

Click "Advanced" (this is where we can choose to search titles only)

Now notice that the "Search in forums" list no longer contains the Beta forum

 

Can this be rectified?

The basic search searches the beta forums just fine. Sure you might get some results outside the beta forums, but it does search in them. :)

1. I now see after your most helpful post that there is a sticky. But it is way down at the bottom of the page below all the Beta sub forums. It's down at the bottom of the page, an area I never scroll to, also one expects sticky's to be at the top of a page. I have only just now noticed those sticky's for the first time.

 

2. I did search on the topic "search". You get thousands of results. That's what prompted me to post the question here in this thread. But you already knew all this - right?

There's an easier way to search the beta forums (or indeed, any particular forum and subforums) than subscribing to it:

 

Open up the main beta forum.

 

At the top of the forum listing is the "Sub-Forums: Open Beta" heading. At the right side of that panel, is a "Search this forum" option with a dropdown arrow. Click on that and it'll expand to give you a basic keyword search. It's almost always better to select "show posts" rather than "show threads".

 

This searches across the forum you're in, and any sub-forums.

Well thank you for taking such an interest in me, it's nice to know I'm being monitored.

 

Your original comment was unhelpful, sarcastic and acidic, wink or no wink. Had you approached someone in a real life situation, face to face, with that comment; how do you suppose they'd react? It often helps to put ones self in the shoes of the other.

 

On the web, we communicate without the benefit NVC. We loose tone, facial expression, body language, pace, delivery etc etc. Therefore it is up to us to treat people with extra care and respect.
