Hey guys, my name is Matt and I am new to LOMAC and to the forums :p.

I was wondering what you all think about me making a wiki for LOMAC & DC so any info from official info about LOMAC up to player created info like player created missions, profiles and bios .

This is just a quick idea that I will expand on later as it goes.

Tell me what you think and I will reply asap.

Till then, see ya! :pilotfly:

good luck Hex.

I agree the wiki support is sorely lacking with this game - others sims have certainly achieved some wonderful things with the open wiki... not so much here; unfortunately things are a little apathetic towards collecting the great knowledge which resides in the community.

I personally put quite a bit of work into the DCS resources for noob pilots pages in teh wiki golf references above but have since stopped developing the list as it was mostly a one-man endeavor.

So much could be done. Here is a competing sim - look how in depth they have gone:

If you decide to work on this, let me know and I will help where i can.

Hi Matt,

there is a WIKI here

http://www.simmodders.org/

and on this forum

http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/Main_Page

Other squadrons an wings may have created their on Wikis...

OK I have checked them out and they are similar to the idea that I want to try doing. What I really want to do is well...in this format;

  • Create a wiki that will hold a database of Lock On and DCS
  • List of missions
  • Separated list of player created missions
  • Profiles of characters we create for missions (i.e. Pilot Log Book)
  • a List of squadrons and the members in it, etc.

Kinda like something that has been done for http://www.stogeek.com/wiki/Main_Page and

http://memory-beta.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

I want to try and do a more detailed version especially for these two games.

good luck Hex.

I have decided to work on this. If your willing to help me out on this endeavor I would appreciate it. I always wanted to create my own wiki for a game I liked a lot and now this is my chance :D

Lets go, I will tell you the site when you respond. I await your reply :pilotfly:

alright - get the site going and I'll contribute best i can. There are plenty of resources out there to be captured as LOMAC has plenty of tenure so I'd suggest getting your rough menue of pages together then build from there.

Be sure you provide separate sections for different software versions, like Lock-On 1.0 to 1.02, FC 1.1 to FC 1.12b. Keep the content sorted by the versions.

There is a Lock-On map available here, which I have created some years ago, but which should be extended to show the DCS map including the new airfields:

Beside this, I'm with your project as time permitts.

Defiantly will sierra, plus there will be a section to post maps and a profile/character section for all you RPers out there. So just to check on who's on the project...Sierra and doom your in?

I checked out your wiki and its close to what I want to do but I was planning on adding more of a RP addition to mine, allowing people to create profiles like the Log Book in LOMAC for some of us who like that ^^''

Also if you want to help me out more pm me and I will give ya my email.

I await a response 8)

You don't have to create a seperate wiki though. That would be duplication of effort for people seeking information - I would likewise suggest contributing to the Ed wiki rather than competing with it... What's your vision with this rp angle? It's a little tough to " upkeep " without logbook export or online stat feeds i would think

Hmm...maybe I should contribute to the Ed wiki then. Also the Rp angle I had is something I came up with when I discovered the Log book and mission editor in LOMAC. I started making characters in it and using the mission editor along with this and created stories with the game.

Also currently I am building up a site for a squadron I am planning to create in the near future (the 43rd Mixed Aviation Squadron) and its going to be an Rp Squadron based on a squad I created in the original lock on (I still dont have Flaming Cliffs 2)

Some examples of what I was thinking of would be this;

http://acecombat.wikia.com/wiki/108th_Tactical_Fighter_Squadron

http://acecombat.wikia.com/wiki/Blaze

http://acecombat.wikia.com/wiki/Kei_Nagase_(AC5)

I hope this helps explain what I wanted. I await a reply. :book:
