ncimike3 Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I've just upgraded to trackir 5 beta 3 and now want to run dcs in 64 bit. I thought i could just launch the exe icon in the bin directory but i keep getting an error. I even right clicked the exe icon and ran as admin but no luck. Any suggestions? thanks. MTFDarkEagle Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 1) Do you have 64bit os? 2) During install, you have the option to install 32bit files, 64 is standard 3) (see point 2) If you did, there should be 4 icons (i.e. 32bit sp/mp, and 64bit sp/mp) Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
ncimike3 Posted January 1, 2011 Author Posted January 1, 2011 (edited) I am running Win 7 64 bit. I originally installed 64 bit. Couldn't get Track IR to work so I reinstalled 32 Bit and it worked fine. Since then I've installed all the latest DCS patches. Now I've Got Beta3 TrackIR running and want to go back to a 64 bit application but am a bit confused on how to go about it. I was hoping I didn't have to reinstall from scratch in then install 3 patches again. Thanks in advance for you help. Bulletstop Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 If you chose to install the 32 bit and 64 bit installation you should have 4 icon, 2 yellow and 2 blue. The 32 bit is DCS-a10c_x86. The Blue icon is multiplayer and for 32 bit it will be the same. you are selecting the other icon and have you waited for the textures to compile, it can take as long as 15 minutes. Raz_Specter Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 when you install there is a checkbox to install the 32bit files also make sure this is checked, although there is no reason to do this now on a 64bit system as there is a TIR version that works perfectly with 64bit thanks Mithandra Custom built W10 Pro 64Bit, Intel Core i9 9900k, Asus ROG Maximus Code XI Z390, 64GB DDR4 3200 RGB, Samsung 1TB NVme M.2 Drive, Gigabyte AORUS 2080TI, 40" Iiyama Display. ncimike3 Posted January 2, 2011 Author Posted January 2, 2011 thanks so much. got everything working. one more question. Now that I'm up and running on 64 bit, does dcs take more ram on its own as it needs it or do I need to assign it more ram? I have 6 GB Triple channel and want to give as much as possible to the game. If I assign more ram, how does one go about this? MTFDarkEagle Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 not necessary IIRC. Do correct me if I'm wrong though. Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
