Farmer_Fred Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Hello! New here so just wanted to say hi. Was wondering if anyone could kill my curiosity- can FC2 run more than one keyboard using something similar to HID-macros which I've used for a while in FSX? The reason is I would like to use the extra keyboards to layout more functions/switches with just the press of a button. Another thing I was pondering was how would I get my 2nd monitor involved in FC2 in any role? Thanks very much and Happy New Year! Fred
Cali Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 I have 2 Logitech KB's a G15 and G11. I haven't tried to set up the G11 G-keys, because I only use about 4 G-keys on the G15. That will change soon, once I re-configure them to work with FC2. I have a total of 54 G-keys for each KB making 108 if I used both. As far as them both working, they both work fine in FC2, haven't had a problem yet. Hope that helps. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
Farmer_Fred Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 Hi Cali, thanks for the rapid reply. That sounds like a good way of going about it! With FSX I managed to use two old keyboards which could be recognised as independent keyboard using this HIDmacro software so that a "d" stroke on one keyboard did not create the same event as the "d" stroke on the other. Hope that makes sense! Anything that makes remembering buttons/controls in game is good. All the best, Fred
shu77 Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Hi There. I did something similar once using a Keyboard matrix and a couple old joysticks to create a home-build HOTAS. To the best of my knowledge multiple Keyboards are detected as the same Keyboard by the operating system rather than the Game software. so pressing the D key always gets you a d key. I got around it by reusing all the non useful keys (Arrows throttle and view keys etc) as well as those which my joystick used (d key for example mapped to joystick which frees it up to be something else) I moved away from that when I got an X-52 and some Cougar MFP's so didnt bother looking into it further, but have a look at http://www.autohotkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=41397 and http://www.autohotkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10416&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=two+keyboards&start=0&sid=0d621836f18c943c320f68ff427714ef Let us know if you have any joy though as being able to differentiate the stream would work fantastically in A-10C where we have a full UFC and CDU to replicate. Beta 4 currently maps some of the UFC keys to the number pad but it would be nice to have the letters on the keyboard map to the CDU. shu77 Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 BTW heres a reference as to why I think you'll need extra software to do this. http://www.winvistatips.com/differentiate-two-keyboards-windowsxp-t182921.html Hornet, Super Carrier, Warthog & (II), Mustang, Spitfire, Albatross, Sabre, Combined Arms, FC3, Nevada, Gulf, Normandy, Syria AH-6J i9 10900K @ 5.0GHz, Gigabyte Z490 Vision G, Cooler Master ML120L, Gigabyte RTX3080 OC Gaming 10Gb, 64GB RAM, Reverb G2 @ 2480x2428, TM Warthog, Saitek pedals & throttle, DIY collective, TrackIR4, Cougar MFDs, vx3276-2k Combat Wombat's Airfield & Enroute Maps and Planning Tools
Farmer_Fred Posted January 7, 2011 Author Posted January 7, 2011 Thanks very much for the pointers- will have a browse tomorrow as past my bedtime! :music_whistling: Here's the link to HIDmacros which I used in FSX, very straightforward to use using simconnect. http://www.hidmacros.eu/ I must admit, after browsing the forum and seeing the MFPs, I think I may as well get them up and running and see what keys are left over! Thanks, Fred

Both my KB's have 18 programmable keys that I can program 3 different functions to them. In FC1, I had them set up pretty good, but when FC2 came out a lot of buttons change. Also things like the chat functions changed also. One of these days I'm gonna reprogram the keys. As of right now both KB's are recongized as 1, which is fine for me. I use the G15 for my flight sims and the G11 for normal computer use and Arma series. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED

Farmer_Fred Posted January 7, 2011 Author Posted January 7, 2011 works a charm in w7- let me know if you get it working in LOMAC/DCS! I think perhaps it's time though I traded in my old Zboard for a logitech G series
