nomdeplume Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Make sure your throttle inputs are correctly configured and that your physical throttle is right back at the idle position. You can use RightCtrl+Enter in-game to get a little popup box which shows what the game is seeing for your throttle position. You can't move from off into idle unless your throttle is at idle. Some people have found that they need to put their throttle all the forward in order to get it into idle; so you could also try that. I think that's the result of some kind of error in the input though. What controller are you using for your throttle?
nomdeplume Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Shouldn't be any major issues with that, I used to use one with this sim with no problems. Just double-check the axis commands are configured correctly, i.e. the "throttle (both)" has only the throttle assigned to it, and that the throttle left/right have no assignments. Also experiment with inverting the axis, it seems fairly common to need to do this, though I can't specifically recall if I did for the x52. You can change that by clicking on the grid cell with the throttle axis, and pressing the Axis Tune button.
hassata Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I believe with anything other than WH, you have to assign a button press to go from ideal to min throttle. Than the axis movement should kick in. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Hekktor Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 You mean to start the engine? You need to assign buttons for that (simulating this off to idle detend where you need to lift the real thing or warthog) AND you need to have your x52 throttle all the way back in the idle position to be able to use this keys to start the engines.
zlorax Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I have the same problem. it's only in the startup tuturial, so for any other mission it will work. the test guys are looking in to it to solve this.
Nate--IRL-- Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Just to remind everybody, the engines will not start (throttle will not move from off position) if your throttle is not at Idle on your joystick. ColGray Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 i have the same problem except on my x52 the slider has becomethe throttle even though there are no assignments for it The State Military (CVW-17) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] VICTORY 104 F-14B BuNo 161442 VF-103 LTJG J. “Shades” Gray http://www.statelyfe.com Win-10 x64 EVGA 2070 FTW Thermaltake 850w Intel I7-8700K at 3.7 Ghz 32GB Corsair DDR4 at 3000mhz
dmccall5 Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 What Hekktor said....This issue got me. Took me two days of troubleshooting only to realize that the tutorial says to move the throttle to idle..actually you need to do "Left engine start" which is by default "Home RAlt" and "Right Engine Start" which is by default "Home RCtrl"...These guys here knew the throttle has a detent that has to be lifted over which starts the engine as that throttle is moved to idle.... Not sure if this is the same thing you're having but hope it helps....
gazcrowbar Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I have a saitek x52 and for me i have to move my throttle forward first and then back to idle before it works. No idea for the reason but as long as this is done once it's fine to start the engines.
