alboy23 Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Hi ghost, Thanks for your reply, I was trying to open the ipadpit v1.2.zip in touch ir server, but also tried to open an extract the contents of zip file as I usually would with any normal zip file, but this doesn't seem to open either. Like I mentioned before it's almost like it's corrupt or damaged... I am however using winRAR to open it (which shouldn't be a problem as it usually works with zip) but will download win zip and see if that works. Will let you know shortly! Thanks! Alex
alboy23 Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Ive just tried winZIP and still no joy. ...and just to confirm it is the ipadpit_v1_2.zip Its now coming up with: Cannot open file: It does not appear to be a valid archive. If you downloaded this file, try downloading this file again. Which has confirmed my thoughts that it is probably corrupt or damaged. Would anybody be willing to send me he ipadpit_v1_2 via email so can try a file that has been confirmed as working? would be appreciated. Thanks again Alex
Ghost_unit13 Posted March 30, 2011 Author Posted March 30, 2011 not sure if it makes a difference but I use zip7. And I send you an PM. www.Ipadpit.nl :pilotfly:

mrsparkle1811 Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 If we want to use this without the MFD screens being displayed, can it be used just with a static image but still have the button press functionality? I love the idea of using my iPad to control the MFD's and UFC but do not want to take up screen real estate with the MFD's always being displayed.
CharlieMike24 Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 This idea is great and seems to work well. Rather than reaching for the mouse to activate buttons, the immersion and slickness of using iPad for UFC and MFCDs is fantastic. Next request - is it possible to get feedback for the radio frequency entry? Using a mouse is so cumbersome - but with iPad its not possible to see what frequency has been entered. Even if there was plain text/numerals on screen rather than photorealistic update would be great. Excellent work, thank you! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Ghost_unit13 Posted April 28, 2011 Author Posted April 28, 2011 (edited) Yes you can use it without working mfd's. I guess you like to have the dual mfd with UFC Ipadpage page static? You can use them without working displays just by not starting the Grab function of TouchIR, but you will have dark MFD displays then. you also don't have to configer the ingame MFD's. I you did it's easy to enable and disable in the game menu. A static display with a static image would be good for a reverence what button you need to push. I will make a static backgound image for you so you can add this one if you like. Give me a few days.. If you wish I can make ipadpit version 1.2 back available for download. This version got only static MFD. But it doesn't have the dual mfd/ufc page. About the radio freq feedback.. yep that's something I would like to have to.. The only thing that would be something I could use is the screen export option I've seen for the UHF freq they use for the Helios solution. But this would mean grabbing that onscreen UHF freq and displaying it in my ipadpit. it will cost some extra room in you in game FOV. I'm not sure if that adds a lot to the functionality. What I do is go to the radio comm page of the ipadpit and push the lower left or right site of the display ( there are big hidden snapview buttons ) with that you get a snap view of the in game radio.. with one hand pushing this snap button, I dial the freq with the other.. because your in a snap few of the in game radio you can have a quick look at the radio when you dial the freq. If it is as simple as not starting the Grab function, don't worry about the static MFD images. A dark screen will be fine. Thanks for all your work on this. Rep inbound.
RigorMortis Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 (edited) Out of curiosity would this be possible using a regular touchscreen connected to the PC and a background app to drive it? Just thinking of a cheaper alternative. What was that at about 9:00? A web browser in the A-10 display on your iPad? Noticed you had to cross check the monitor to know which button to push. lol. I was just wondering, so you have a webcam and TrackIR fitted to your head? Edited April 28, 2011 by RigorMortis
durka-durka Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I believe the on-board web browser is only planned for the A-10d model, and doesn't accurately represent the current A-10 Thunderbolt in production. :) 492nd Squadron CO (F-15E): JTF-111 - Discord Link
Ghost_unit13 Posted April 28, 2011 Author Posted April 28, 2011 :) This image is taken from a Alpha version where only the Webview button worked (a custom size webview window with url link) The server site screen grabber that publish the MFD's didn't work yet. I just added an default web adress for show. In the Ipadpit version 2 it got the url of the server. The Ipadpit is created with the Ipad app TouchIR+, so Ipad dedicated. sorry. I got track IR and made the movie with a cam in one hand (damm hard to focus on doing all the flying and get a good shot :) ) www.Ipadpit.nl :pilotfly:

Thanks for all your work on this. Rep inbound. In that case just get version 2 and just ignore the setup of the screen grab option :) You got it all working without live mfd. it will look like this but with dark mfd's. and when you scroll down you get some more switches that I use a lot during flight and the F1-12 function keys for communications. like this: I was pointing to version 1.2 in case you needed a static background right away. RigorMortis Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 If I start to really get into A-10 this may push me into buying an iPad. I invested probably a good $1500+ when I get into Falcon 4 between a projector, CH Products HOTAS, three monitors, and a second PC to drive gauges and other outputs. Great work. Looking forward to see how it develops.
alphatoomega Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 I had been working on some code for the radios to get the correct frequencies to appear. I had been stuck with getting the UHF radio to work correctly. However I hadn't seen that you can export the freq the same way as the mfcd panels. That is a lot easier than trying to figure it out from getfrequency() in the export lua. In the mean time I've uploaded a quick activity with working frequencies for the vhf radios. http://www.multiupload.com/K4M1R98RNQ This is very quick and some of the buttons may not work or change a different frequency. Also the touchir may time out waiting (I need to add escape codes) and there is also a delay of about 1.5-2 seconds before button shows changes. export.lua and config.lua go to your \DCS A-10C\Config\Export folder. Make a backup of the files there already. You will need to change two lines in the export lua file from ./Temp/ElectricalPowerPanel.txt to C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C\Temp\ElectricalPowerPanel.txt In touchir use Tools, import configuration and load the activity. It should go over the ipadpit v2 and ask to copy over the comms activity already there.

Also I changed the directory files to my own location. Any ideas what I could try? :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
alphatoomega Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 I take it you mean the touch ir server and not the track ir server. Could be a number of things but normally means it can't find the txt file created but the lua export script. First make sure that the txt file is being created. You can check by running a mission and pausing the game and alt-tab out and look \Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C\Temp\ElectricalPowerPanel.txt The next thing to check is that the touchir activity imported correctly. There was a bug in the older server version where the feedback scripts didn't import correctly. Under Location: DSC A-10C Activity : Comms Devices in this Activity : test vhf and look for feedback scripts for buttons labeled init, run1 through to run8. If there are no feedback scripts use this download instead http://www.multiupload.com/5QJ8P6AQTF If the txt file is NOT created in C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C\Temp\ElectricalPowerPanel.txt you will have to change the scripts for the run1,run2,run3,run4,run5,run6,run7 and run8 to where it is. FileRead, String, C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C\Temp\ElectricalPowerPanel.txt return %String% Change the bit in italics to your path for the txt file.
CharlieMike24 Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 (edited) alphatoomega, There was a problem with the script location. Seems to default to DCS A10 folder. Even altering the export scripts and run1-8 scripts to this, the touch ir wouldn't connect. Other functions are great - thanks Ghost - and sorry for hijacking your thread!! :music_whistling: Edit:I'll try the other download tomorrow. Edited April 30, 2011 by CharlieMike24 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
CharlieMike24 Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 α2Ω, The other export profile wouldn't work for me either. :( Still getting great use from the Touch IR for Dual MFCDs. Ghost - I think there's a bug on the Comms page. With the VHF FM radio, the Tens dial turns normally, but the singe digits change oddly. eg Changing from 4 to 5, the dial goes a full turn (ie via 6,7,...2,3,4) to reach the digit 5. Now just need to work out how to use the CDU. :book: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Looks like an A10 bug to me.. haven't got onto it yet. but for what I know I just send one key stroke with the left and right button turn.. It works great for the UHF.. www.Ipadpit.nl :pilotfly:
