I wonder if anyone knows how to change the waypoint number when adding a new waypoint from the database to a new Flightplan.

For instance: I create some new waypoints (either manually entered coords through WP menu, or from SPI). If my current mission has 3 waypoints, my first new waypoint will be MSN004 (first slot open). So now I have MSN001-MSN003 in my database and my first flightplan, and my new waypoints MSN004-MSN006 that are now in my database, but not in Flightplan01. I create a new flightplan (02) and insert the new waypoints (MSN003-MSN006) into the new flightplan. After making the new flightplan active and switching through the waypoints, I find I have waypoint 4, 5, 6 (corresponding to the MSN004, MSN005, MSN006 waypoints in the DB) but I have no waypoint 1, 2, 3.

How do I change the waypoint numbers in my new flightplan to be 1-3 rather than 4-6?

Track attached.

(Take note that in the track I simply latched some friendlies to create quick waypoints so I wouldn't bore anyone. I normally get the GPS coords from F10 and create the waypoints by manually entering them in the NAV page (I know it's not realistic, but let's just pretend there's such a thing as good intelligence))

Is this possible? Anyone?

After some consideration I wonder if splitting the WP numbers across FPs is intentional. If I ingress on WPs 1-4 in FP01, then switch to FP02 and attack at WPs 5-8, then switch to FP03 and egress through WPs 8-10, it might declutter the TAD I guess.

Anyone have any additional information?

Why not either just change the waypoints in the existing flightplan or delete the original flight plan? When you create waypoints they are numbered and are unique, if they had the same number/name they wouldn't be and you wouldnt be able to add them to a new flight plan.

If you want to declutter the TAD then place markpoints at the points of interest and select MARK.

Thanks for the reply Druid. That was all conjecture. I'm really just trying to determine why a new waypoint added to a new flightplan isn't 01, but is rather the next number in the sequence from the previous flightplan. And more importantly, whether I can change the waypoint numbers during the procedure of adding them to a new flightplan.

Just like Druid said, the waypoint number is the waypoint's unique ID and cannot be changed. However you can still rename WPs, but I do not know whether the new name overwrites the ID or is just stored on another "layer" of the WP's data.

I assumed the waypoints unique name in the database was MSN005. What I want to know is why when I add a new waypoint to the new flightplan, it's numbered 5 / MSN005. I would think that my waypoint would be 1 / MSN005, since it's the first waypoint in that flightplan.

Ok, now I understand your problem. I thought you were talking about the MSN###.

The behaviour you observed is indeed odd.

I haven't played DCSW in a while, but on the Steer PT Dial on the AAP there is a setting named "Mission". In the manual it says this accesses all mission-related waypoints. Maybe the indices of the WPs do not reset because they all belong to the same mission database. That would bring us to the question if it were possible to create non-misison WPs that start with 01...

Haven't tried it, but can you move your new flightplan to the top (i.e above the mission generated flightplan) ?

Also in answer to your question, it could be 1) as IRL (strange if it is) 2) A Bug

You can make one flightplan active at a time. You cannot change the sequence of flight plans.

The two ways I know to make a new waypoint are on the CDU or the TAD.

On the CDU hit the button (OSB4?) next to a number which designates the next open waypoint number in the overall waypoints database (not the mission). This copies your current waypoint coords to a new one, and allows you to input the coords by hand in the waypoints screen. Also you can hit the OSB on the TAD (OSB16?)next to the next available waypoint in the database (same function as the OSB on the CDU) to automatically input the coords of a hooked item or SPI for the new waypoint.

What I don't know is how to change the waypoint numbers (not names) in a given flightplan so in flightplan01 you have WPs 1-4 and in Flightplan02 you have WPs 1-4... instead of Flightplan01 having WPs numbered 1-4 and Flightplan02 having WPs numbered 5-8 only.

Not possible AFAIK. A flight plan is only an certain order of mission points.
