dvarrin Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Hi, Is it possible to create training missions using the mission editor? Or can we do it an other way? Daniel
PhoenixBvo Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 You can create any mission scenario in the ME. E.g. set yourself up with some JDAMs and LGBs and put a group of targets in front of you for a basic TGP procedure practice. 5 min. work. But I guess you want those missions to appear in the training menu? I don't know about that, might be possible with some lua editig but I don't see the merit in that. Just put your own training missions in a seperate folder called mytraining or something like that and go to the mission item in the main menu and select your training mission. Works fine :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] CPU i7 4970k @ 4.7 GHz RAM 16GB G.Skill TridentX 1600 ATX ASUS Z97-PRO DSU Samsung 850 PRO 256GB SSD for Win10, Plextor M6e 128GB SSD for DCS exclusively, RAID-1 HDDs GFX Aorus GTX 1080 Ti 11GB Xtreme Edition, ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q, 27" with G-Sync, Oculus Rift CV1 HID TM HOTAS Warthog + 10 cm extension, MFG Crosswind pedals, TrackIR 5, Obutto oZone My TM Warthog Profile + Chart, F-15C EM Diagram Generator
StrongHarm Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Sabre-TLA is doing some exciting work in training and qual missions. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=66623 You can create triggers (i.e. Nose Wheel Steering has been activated, do next step) and add voice files. You can download one of his training missions from the user files area. Like PhoenixBvo said, if you're just referring to creating a mission with particular weapons and targets, it's as easy as a few clicks in the mission editor. It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
dvarrin Posted February 1, 2011 Author Posted February 1, 2011 Thank you for your answer :-) Really nice idea the training campaign. Is it possible to have a control being highlighted to help localise it, as we have in the default training missions? For example we have a text or voice asking to switch APU switch on and the APU switch is highlighted? Is it done by default? Daniel
EvilBivol-1 Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 The mission editor includes all of the necessary trigger functions to create cockpit highlights and monitor cockpit switch and indicator conditions (all of the trigger rules and actions starting with 'X'), however their practical use requires a lot of work with the LUA files external to the sim to identify switch names and arguments in the code. These functions are considered internal and are not documented in the manuals. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules
dvarrin Posted February 1, 2011 Author Posted February 1, 2011 What do you mean with lua files external to the sim? How do we identify switch names and arguments in the code?
Yoni63 Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 I think I've been flying FS too long... I was looking at the air refueling training file. I noticed the files don't have a suffix (miz) after them so I was unsure how to unzip, where to put them etc. First guess would be in the missions folder but I think I'll wait if someone can cue me on that. Sorry, I'm just not ready to screw up the sim LOL. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]HP d5000T/Vista SP1/Intel® Core 2 Quad CPU Q9490 @ 2.66 Ghz 3.00 GB Ram/32 bit OS/Nvidia GeForce 9500GT.
Yoni63 Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Beware of the landing pattern mission, seems the left brake is stuck. It won't exit the hanger without getting hung up. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]HP d5000T/Vista SP1/Intel® Core 2 Quad CPU Q9490 @ 2.66 Ghz 3.00 GB Ram/32 bit OS/Nvidia GeForce 9500GT.
