bmbpdk Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Hi all, im building my own campaign, and so far ive made 3 missions. But im kinda stuck with a question.. How can i make the friendly AI laser designate/paint a target for bombs? Ive read several threads and lines in the manual, but i cant find a solution, perhaps ive just missed the lines. Ive tried to look at current user made missions and how they are build, but again, i cant find the lines on how to do it. The old saying "You only see what you know" is pretty appropiate :-D Perhaps the lines are there but i dont know what to look for. Thanks in advance bmbpdk Inno3d RTX 2070 Twin X2, ASUS STRIX Z270E Gaming, Intel i7 7700K, 32GB Corsair vengeance, Kingston Hyper X FPS Alloy Cherry MX Red, Logitech G102 Prodigy, Track Ir 5, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, Saitek Combat Rudder pedals, Beyer Dynamic DT770, Acer CB280HK 4K monitor, Win 10 Pro 64bit

Kellerman Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Hi, Maybe this is what you're looking for : Good luck, Bart i have done the instructions of video, but, my Jtac only mark with smoke. how can i do for Jtac with laser or to see squares on HUD ?
nomdeplume Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 JTAC will only mark with laser if he wants you to engage with LGBs. Which is a little bit weird, really, but there you have it. You won't ever "see squares on HUD". You might be able to get them to mark with the IR pointer rather than WP if the mission is set at night.

nomdeplume Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Is your JTAC an armed unit (e.g. armed HMMWV) and does it have line-of-sight to the target? You might also want to experiment with changing the day number to get a darker night. No real idea what parameters are taken into account when deciding how to mark.

Yes its an armed unit and i has try to change the time to advanced night and no works. only works with "day" and only with smoke in that situation. Edit: i will try new thing, wait news here. RIFLE_JTAC_TRAINING Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I think more work should be done with the JTAC to add realism. A-10C can look outside our spectrum of sight and NVG to lock onto a laser signature give the proper code i.e. 1688. If we had this it is as simple as asking the JTAC for LASER ON. JTAC to Pilot STARE. And once the system has found the mark making it your SPI. Just make sure you got the target and not the JTAC. Revelation Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 You should also set the JTAC to engage with guided munitions. Win 10 Pro 64Bit | 49" UWHD AOC 5120x1440p | AMD 5900x | 64Gb DDR4 | RX 6900XT
nomdeplume Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 You should also set the JTAC to engage with guided munitions. The linked video used the IR pointer on a guns attack; I'm guessing the video was made with beta 3 or earlier due to overlaid "Hawg 1" on the "standby data" message (which I think was fixed with beta 4). But hopefully they can still point the target at night for any kind of weapon. Logically, there's two ways for the JTAC to visually mark the target: WP in daylight, and IR pointer at night. I think more work should be done with the JTAC to add realism. A-10C can look outside our spectrum of sight and NVG to lock onto a laser signature give the proper code i.e. 1688. If we had this it is as simple as asking the JTAC for LASER ON. The JTAC can and will make with laser in certain situations, using a similar process to what you state. I'd like to see more options (via the "set option" task list) to give the mission editor more control over the JTAC behaviour, i.e. what methods it uses to mark etc. I guess I'd settle for knowing exactly what the parameters involved are so there's not so much guesswork in trying to get them to do a particular thing.
Kellerman Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 (edited) ok, i got the JTAC working correct on Night mode, but... when JTAC use IR laser, i cant see correct with night vision. i need to change my view with LWin + Z ? PD: LWin is my Windows key on keyboard ? EDIT: I think my bonicular view is not working or im doing anything wrong Edited February 17, 2011 by Kellerman
Sinky Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I got this working correctly earlier. I used the MQ-9 for AFAC, setup his freq and targeting data. Make sure it's day time also, at night the MQ-9 will mark with IR pointer. That post was directed at the origional poster. Try adjusting the brightness of the NVG. Also if your not using any antialiasing then that might be the problem, I can barley see it without AA. If that doesn't help then I have no idea, sorry.
