I arrive at IP to join in on the war, full of ordnance but...find I cannot...uh... release, as it were.

1. Is it possible that I'm rushing through the startup?

--I've heard similar complaints in the past.

2. Is there a particular operation that I should pay particular attention to in order to avoid this?

It has happened a few times before.

3. Is there a way to recover from this in the air using INV?

Many thanks,

Someone who knows 100% can back me up but I fiured this out today. On your left MFCD press and hold "Status" I think it was, till a new window opens. Then press "load" then "Status again. This should bring up your menu so you can reload all your settings.

Sounds like you forgot to load your DTC. Once the MFDs come on you will have a load screen on the left one. Once your EGI is aligned to .7 hit load and it will load you stations.

You probably either skipped the DTS Load sequence (to load the data from the DTS cartridge into the flight computers), or you did it too early during the startup sequence and it was lost when the systems reset (which occurs when switching from the APU generator to the engine generator).

To fix it you can either manually set the stores configuration using the DSMS inventory page, or use the "LOAD" MFCD page to re-load the DSMS data from the cartridge, using the procedure Mike outlined above. Note that you don't need to use the "STAT" page; if you hold any of the first four OSBs on the bottom row (the fifth is reserved for DCLT/ACK) you get the menu of MFCD pages. You can then populate the bottom row by selecting the page of interest using the left & right OSBs, then press one of the bottom OSBs to put the selected page on that OSB. It sounds complicated, but it's pretty simple to use once you see it. Just remember you need to hold one of the bottom OSBs for a few seconds.
