aaron886 Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Off topic: I do not see much of Eagle lovers on the server, come to the servers you guy's will feel MiG power. :pilotfly: That's because we're all interested in A-10C these days, and not arcade-style BVR. :D
VAOZoky Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Incorrect; there were other countries who had reasonably well trained pilots - Iraqi's among them ... their radars and weapons worked, too. I know, sometimes the truth stings a bit ;) I dont know about iraqies but serbian migs didnt have working radar and they had only r60 on wings. And then consider that iraqies got almost all millitary equipment from exYu (for some unknown reason(we never got some oil from them :() we were friends with sadam). So good pilot+old planes-good missile=2 F15s+ 2 f16 win  Intel Core i5 2500k @ 4.2Ghz, 8GB Kingston HyperX @1.6GHz, Ati Radeon HD7870 2GB GDDR5, 19' 1440x900 screen

And they even didnt know they got launched at. Fly straight into the missiles. Sure those planes had some malfunctions... So the pilots couldnt do anything. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GGTharos Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 In 1990-1991 the Iraqi MiG-29's were in reasonably good condition. The MiG-29 isn't a fighter you want to take into a head-to-head encounter with an F-15 or F-16 regardless of how good its condition is. The MiG-29A/B is simply too out-dated, and the C would barely do any better. It's simply not a competitive fighter. An SMT or newer might stand a better chance, at least against an F-16 in BVR. 59th_Buncsi Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 ...and the C would barely do any better. ... The C version has only ECM and larger range with the more fuel... Nothing is better. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ФрогФут Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 The C version has only ECM and larger range with the more fuel... Nothing is better. The C(S actually) has modified radar and RVV-AE. The one you are talking about is simple 9-13. "Я ошеломлён, но думаю об этом другими словами", - некий гражданин Ноет котик, ноет кротик, Ноет в небе самолетик, Ноют клумбы и кусты - Ноют все. Pilotasso Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 (edited) Yes but Russia built only like 20 of them, who then had to split up with Ukraine and other countries and never carried either the R-77 or the RVVAE. Even the few SMT's rejected by Algeria incorporated into RuAF are in higher numbers now. The Mig-29K will put them both onto a corner. :) Edited March 7, 2011 by Pilotasso .

Alfa Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 The C(S actually) has modified radar and RVV-AE. The one you are talking about is simple 9-13. Yes but by "the C" I believe GG was refering to the Nato designation "Fulcrum C", which covers both 9-13 and 9-13S. JJ

Shinigami Posted March 8, 2011 Author Posted March 8, 2011 (edited) What Iraqui realy have!!!! Hi: Sorry for the late post, I was working in my thesis and I had not had time of viewing the forum This is an Iraqi Air Force strength report at start of war, losses, flights to Iran and remaining aircraft after war intel report. Source: Iraqi Perspectives Project Phase II. Um Al-Ma'arik (The Mother of All Battles): Operational and Strategic Insights from an Iraqi Perspective, Volume 1 (Revised May 2008) Do the math to see how many planes they have at the start of US War vs Iraq Aircraft MiG-29 B and A 1990 37 destroyed 17 damaged 4 To Iran 4 survived 12 The table has more info of other planes, but the controversy is the Mig-29 Also the MiG-29B (Izdeliye 9.12B) is the downgraded export version for non-warsaw pact nations. It possessed downgraded radar and other systems, ECM and IFF. NATO reporting code is "Fulcrum-A" for those that know it in that way. And after a consult with a uncle of mine of the Air Force also he is a Mig-29 pilot, he tell me that the iraqi have a decent readiness but they were flaying in old planes and with lite o non ground support, and were outnumbered. On this subject the US sources: Woods, Kevin; Michael R. Pease, Mark E. Stout, Williamson Murray, James G. Lacey (2006). The Iraqi Perspective Report. Naval Institute Press Cooper, Tom (2003). "Iraqi Air Force Since 1948 Part 2". Air Combat Information Group. Retrieved 2008-08-28 Also confirm what my uncle says. I think that we should leave this topic and center in the new airplane that will come out in DCS and if the discussion still continues, we better open another tread... Shinigami Out...... revalence Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Su-30MK or MiG-29M for me... I would like an advanced Russian fighter... would make my day.
pauldy Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Never knew MiGs can be used to refrigerate your foods at home or something... LoL.. Just ignore me.. And also, why MiGs when there are Sukhoi aircraft in the choices? Anyway, Su-30 for me.. I'm fond of bigger aircraft now. Want to make this a reality? Maybe convince the airforces using these planes to invest their desktop simulator/trainer development to ED and we'll probably have a chance of getting DCS:Flanker, Fulcrum or whatever they are.. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
FLANKERATOR Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Feels good to get back to the roots after a while, and the roots are the flight Flanker 1.x-2.x series :D DCS: Flanker would be in harmony with history! Situational Awareness: https://sa-sim.com/ | The Air Combat Dojo: https://discord.gg/Rz77eFj
Shinigami Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 (edited) Never knew MiGs can be used to refrigerate your foods at home or something... LoL.. Just ignore me.. jajajajaja Men I'm Spanish speaker wen it come to English is always a pain in the ss.... to write the words correctly what I wanted to say was that New Mig aircraft are better than the F. lol... And also, why MiGs when there are Sukhoi aircraft in the choices? I was talking in general, and now is to late to change the post.... I truly hope so, but reading the older post, it seem is very complicated to make the Su-30MK cause is a two pilots plane, gunner and pilot, though the Russian airplanes have the controls duplicated. I was thinking, what if they make the gunner or the pilot an IA and you can decide in what combat position you want to play, that would be really cool. :joystick: So in one mission you get to be the gunner or the pilot or switch between them. Shinigami Out.....:pilotfly: Edited March 9, 2011 by Shinigami La guerra, asi como es madrastra de los cobardes, es madre de los valientes. Shinigami Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 The MK is an old aircraft, and no longer competitive. You might want to look at something like MKI2. what's the difference???? La guerra, asi como es madrastra de los cobardes, es madre de los valientes. Cervantes. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GGTharos Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Er ... the difference is huge. You can probably research it yourself - the MK avionics are quite old. The Indian AF didn't like a lot of the RUssian avionics in fact and have replaced some of them with western avionics in the MKI/MKI2. what's the difference???? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Shinigami Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 Then if the avionic has changed then is more difficult to simulate it???? right???? La guerra, asi como es madrastra de los cobardes, es madre de los valientes. Cervantes. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Shinigami Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 (edited) Also I suppose that when they change the avionic, they should have incorporated a ground following radar right??? That would make my day cause I was hoping for a mission were you get to fly at night trough a cannon in the mountain and destroy a well hidden objective, like in the book The fist of God though I would not be a flying a F-15. LOL Edited March 9, 2011 by Shinigami La guerra, asi como es madrastra de los cobardes, es madre de los valientes. Cervantes. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GGTharos Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 If you want to do it with the right aircraft you'd be flying an F-15. If you want to dream, I guess a Su-30MKI is your thing. I have no idea what sorts of features they implemented, it's largely secret.
