Hello everyone,i am new.My English is poor.

I like the DCS A-10C,when i read the game manual i do not found the AIM9 need to "cool" its head. I remember that in F4 the infrared missile need to cool its head before launch.

That's all.Thank you !

I think it automatically cools. When you start out the AIM-9 will be off, you can use the MISSILE subpage of the DSMS to switch it to "COOL". Maybe you can have problems if you have it uncaged for a long period of time, but for normal use I don't think you need to take any special precautions.

Just a couple of interesting thoughts...

Does the actual front of the aim9 cool down? And if it does, can you see the temperature change through an IR camera (like the TGP)? :music_whistling:

The AIM-9M uses argon for cooling, otherwise the seeker is not as effective.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..

Thank everybody !

Mvsgas 's link is very useful though i can not open it(i'am in china, maybe the link was "harmonious")

Haha ,thank you all the same !

In the game manual Page 289:AIM-9 Control (AIM9), rotary OSB 19. Rotary selections include OFF, COOL, SEL. The selected rotary setting is displayed beneath the AIM9 label. There are no other functions. Selecting SEL places HUD in air-to-air mode.

So,in the game,"cool" is just a "label",no function?
