Conure Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Hey guys... I've run into a few problems which I can't understand in the manual... Basically I'm practising TACAN navigation followed by ILS approach (for runways that have it) and I've found that when on the floor, the TACAN radio emits static, is this because it's modelled so well that it doesn'tt work on the floor? Also, I tried to contact kopatnari (I forgot the correct spelling) and they don't appear on the list of available stations (to contact, despite having a tower frequency)! Are some just not included? I then tried to contact Batumi via radio and it didn't work - no response. VHF was set to manual and transceiver, frequency was checked and doubled checked by no reply..Does using TACAM interfere with it somehow? Finally...I somehow switched my hud off :D I tried searching the manual for "hud brightness" as I often turned it down in the Shark by accident, but to no avail... Anyway, sorry for the torrent of questions...I will cease ask any for a few days :-) Intel i7 6700k, Asus GTX1070, 16gb DDR4 @ 3200mhz, CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Rudder Pedals, Samsung Evo 850 SSD @ 500GB * 2, TrackIR 5 and 27" monitor running at 2560 * 1440, Windows 10.
rud Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I actualy haven't messed around with TACAN much yet, but for your radio make sure you're using the correct mic switch (AM, FM, UHF) to call them and also that your radios are powered. The FM and AM radios need APU or engine generators to be running, the UHF radio can run off the battery. I like bumping the squelch switch and see if I can hear any static to make sure the radio's functioning. The HUD has some switches on the armament contorl panel on the left side of the dash board. The IFFCC switch turns it on, off, or test and there's also a day / night switch. It's in the manual under "cockpit controls -> Armament Hud and Control Panel". For brightness, the Up Front controller right under the HUD has a rocker switch labeled "INTEN". They had plenty of room to write "INTENSITY" but chose not to :music_whistling:
Conure Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 Hahah! Cheers! It was all powered..Very strange, I probably broke it...I usually set the initial number on the VHF1 to 9 and if it gives a strange monotone sound then it often works... sobek Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Finally...I somehow switched my hud off :D I tried searching the manual for "hud brightness" as I often turned it down in the Shark by accident, but to no avail... There's only two controls that i know of that could be the cause. First one is the HUD brightness rocker on the lower right of the UFC, other would be the IFFCC switch on the AHCP panel. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
