ilikepie Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I was playing with systems last night trying to learn them and noticed that the AP disengaged at 15k. I have looked through the manual but cannot find the relevant section about programming the AP. If some one knows where in the Manual or knows the procedure to set the AP Alt i would appreciate it. I am guessing its through the STAT page or the UFC after pre flight bit. i will continue to look in the book....... Action After Contemplation
RogueRunner Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 What was your AoA and speed? There's limitations to what it can do and under what circumstances it will engage. You did not by any chance move the controls? I saw last night I was unable to engage the AP in ALT mode when the refueling door was open. Is this correct? With the price of ammunition these days do not expect a warning shot.
ilikepie Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 was using AP in level flight with a slight up trim. about 1-2 degree angle. airspeed was around 170-180 fully loaded. went above 15k and it cut out. i wondered if there was a Max Alt setting. Action After Contemplation
MTFDarkEagle Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Do you have a track file? Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
S D Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I'm sure there is no kind of "cut out" for altitude. I regularly perform ALT hold orbits at Angels 20+.
nomdeplume Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 My guess is that you may have been bleeding speed as you climbed, requiring ever increasing amounts of nose-up to maintain the path. Eventually that exceeded the AP's authority, so it disengaged.

Need to pay more attention to trimming. Thanks for the input, all. Action After Contemplation
