As roles:

GAI = Ground Alert Intercept.

Aircraft assigned to this task will sit on the runway or in a parking area until an enemy aircraft approaches within a certain radius of their airfield. In FC2 this works best if you place an EWR radar at the airfield. You only need to assign the flight one waypoint - the take off waypoint. They will automatically take off, attack enemy aircraft and land. They will not however "regenerate" and take off on subsequent occasions if more enemy aircraft approach their airfield. It is possible to model this behaviour using some triggers, conditions and several aircraft groups but by default GAI aircraft will only take off, attack and land once. The MiG-23MLD, MiG-29 and F-16 work very well as GAI aircraft.

AFAC = Airbourne Forward Air Controller.

I must admit that I've no idea how this task works in FC2 as I've never used it. To be honest I didn't know this task even existed in FC2. Interesting, I must have a play with that.

Hope this helps...

AFAC: You can use planes with the role AFAC to illuminate areas in night attacks missions. In this role they will use S-100 (or other kind of illuminate bomb) in the target area.
