GBS Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 I just got this stick and had some bad experiences with the programing software that came with it, which is no longer on my hard drive. I do not have pedals and twist the stick for rudders. I have been programing the x52 in game on the options screen. Is there any way to use the Mode switch on the upper right of the stick the way I am doing things? Is there any use for the two radials on the throttle? What is the Clutch button used for? I have noticed that when I hold it down the #1 POV on the stick is disengaged, but why and what does that do? Looking forward to some great advice.
BiPod Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 (edited) I have the non-pro version, but it is pretty much the same. Is there any way to use the Mode switch on the upper right of the stick the way I am doing things? No. To use modes you must use the Saitek software. It is worthwhile doing, but if you don't have time you can use someone else's profile. There are several available on these forums. Is there any use for the two radials on the throttle? I don't use mine, but some people use one for zoom. They can also be used for wheelbrakes. You can assign them in game in the axis section of controls. What is the Clutch button used for? It's a memory aid. If you program using the Saitek software and give your buttons names, then the clutch button disengages the other buttons and shows the button functions in the MFD. (ie. Hold the clutch and the "Flaps" button and the MFD will say "flaps" but the flaps will not activate). You can disable the non-pro clutch in the Saitek control panel, so it acts like a normal button. Turk10mm Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 GBS, you can change the clutch button to a regular button in the saitek profile editor. The clutch button is typically used like a function key. by depressing it and holding it you can assign one button with a second command. I don't use the saitek profile editor either, so the clutch button is just another functional hotas button for me. I haven't figured out a way to use the mode switch without programming in the saitek software. I'd love for it to be a flaps switch, but i haven't spent a lot of time trying I also haven't tried programming the radials. barra733 Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Try opening your Windows control panel/game controllers/Saitek X52/properties and keep the window open. Open DCS BS and go to options , this will allow you to assign commands to a lot more of the X52's buttons - I'm not sure about the mode switch though. If this works you have to open the controller panel/properties etc everytime you open DCS BS though. This works for my X52 and gives me a lot more buttons to play with.
topdog Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 If you have multiple profiles on your Saitek software app, the clutch and main X52 hat are used for unloading/selecting/loading profiles on the fly too.
