I did it in a mission I made in Beta 4; it's very satisfying.

From what I recall, set your FAC/AFAC to call for an LGB (obviously) but make the laser code something different than the default code set in the Hog for pilot/GBU lasing. In other words, come up with another, unique 4-digit (not sure if there are any other parameters) code for the FAC.

In flight, before you call JTAC, make sure the unique laser code is inputted in both your TGP/Settings page and in the DSMS entry for the LG munition you plan to drop with buddy laser guidance. If everything else pans out, JTAC should talk you through the process pretty seamlessly. Make sure you hit LSS in the TGP screen after you have asked the FAC to start lasing. I always did this within 10 nm of the target.

Yeah but it doesn't work online. The lased target is way way off when the recipient detects it. Some kinda online syncing issue or what not. Hope it gets fixed.

If you say it works I will test it more before sending a track.

You do it through the DSMS inventory page.

Don't forget to also set the laser code used by the TGP, on the AG CTRL page. There's separate codes for the laser search mode and the laser designation.

While I'm at it: the manual says (p337) the laser code can be between 1111 and 1788, with the last three digits being between 1 and 8.

DSMS inventory page??? im total confused - please explain it in steps- THANKS!

Bring up the DSMS on an MFCD, press the INV button on the top row, press the button next to one of the weapons stations with an LGB loaded, select GBU from the right hand side, then the particular type from the left side.

You'll arrive at a page with settings that are usually configured on the bomb by the ground crew. On the right hand side is the laser code entry field.

Once you've made your changes, hit either LOAD to configure just that station, or LOAD SYM to configure that station and its opposite station with the same settings. This is useful if you have a symmetrical load.

You can use the same process to alter the HOF (height of function) and RPM of the cluster bombs, to increase or decrease the coverage area.

Edit: page 281 of the flight manual has a full explanation of the inventory page.

So, just to make sure I have it right -- it's been a while since I set this up in a mission --the bomb code can stay at default (I don't remember changing it) but it should correspond with the laser designation. The laser search search code, though, should be different, and correspond with the FAC's (or buddy's) laser search code as programmed in the ME. Right?

It depends if you want your buddy to guide your bomb to the target or not.

The search mode of the TGP is just a way of acquiring a spot, using the reflected laser energy from another emitter. So if all you want is for your buddy or the JTAC to help you get your TGP to the target, you can use the LSS mode after making sure it's programmed to use the same code as whoever is guiding you.

If you want your buddy to actually guide the bomb to the target (so you don't need to emit any laser energy at all), then you need to make sure the bomb is configured to use the same code they're emitting.

If you want to guide the bomb yourself, then you need to make sure your TGP's emitter code is the same as that configured for the bomb.

Now i only have to find out what i have to do in the ME to make the JTAC buddylasing a target - im so terrible stupid:music_whistling:

In addition to my explanation above: At the FAC's waypoint where you want him to go "active", set frequency, FAC function, target and weapon called for in the WP "Advanced" tab.

Now i know how it works - but all the time in my mission the JTAC was not in Laser-Position to the target - so it cant mark the target:doh: - now im ordering an AFAC Tornado and every thing is fine:smartass:

Thanks for the HELP!!!!:thumbup::pilotfly:

I think the FAC has to have line of sight to the target too. That makes placement of the FAC, or lasing unit, critical. It can be trial-and-error.

If you set the FAC to order a laser guided/GBU-12 attack (can't remember what it was precisely), then the jtac will lase.

...it is under the point "2.1. Guided Bombs" in the "weapon" folder at "FAC-Assign Group":smilewink:... im learning sooooo fast:megalol:
