pcalvert Posted October 30, 2011 Author Posted October 30, 2011 Final Hi Cupra, I'm 5'7" so yeah it's a good size for me. However I did want a much larger person to be able to use it and there is much more room than you would think, thats why I re-built the seat and rudder box (several times) I'm getting a mate of mine (who is quite a size! lol) to test it this week. I think Iv'e finished the build for now (up to a point) In the future I would like to add some more switches and an AOA indicator. You can also see in the pictures that one of my LED units has failed - under the UFC, above the right MFCD. They are sealed units, so not much I can do. I'll order one this week and replace it next weekend. I'm just having a lot of fun at the moment......flying!!! :D Oh BTW my wife is going to get the flight manual printed into a book for me (Christmas pressy!) But I am still using version - I think 8... does anyone have the manual for the latest version they could post? Thanks :) Asus Rampage II Extreme, i7 920 @3.8Gh, 6Gb Corsair Dominator 1600hz, Msi GTX 470 Twin Frozr, Corsair 850w Mod PSU, TIR 5, HOTAS WH
pcalvert Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 Just a quick note. I tried to do a short film - but it wasn't very good - so will do another. I have fixed the floodlights now (one failed in the UFC as well). I'll post pics this week. In the meantime I'm in need of help! I can't get the RWR to work on my second monitor. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks :) Asus Rampage II Extreme, i7 920 @3.8Gh, 6Gb Corsair Dominator 1600hz, Msi GTX 470 Twin Frozr, Corsair 850w Mod PSU, TIR 5, HOTAS WH
Ragtop Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 You need to modify the Indicator.init lua file in the (install location)/scripts/aircraft/A-10C/ALR169 folder. You will also need to modify the Monitor Setup file in the config folder. There is a thread regarding this in the tech support forum here. Sorry if this is little info, I'm in bed right now, about to get ready for work. If you still have trouble I'll help you out tonight when I'm home. 476th vFG Alumni
pcalvert Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 Thanks Ragtop - Yes I will need help - lol :) Much appreciated. I couldn't find the thread! Asus Rampage II Extreme, i7 920 @3.8Gh, 6Gb Corsair Dominator 1600hz, Msi GTX 470 Twin Frozr, Corsair 850w Mod PSU, TIR 5, HOTAS WH
Ragtop Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Use the ALR-69 File from here and replace the file in the location I mentioned (Scripts etc etc) Then you need to set up a new Monitor Config file, which is explained very well in the first post of that same thread. Sorry I'm posting from a work computer and there's customers everywhere so I'm rushing :P I'll go into more detail if you're still stuck later and none else has helped! 476th vFG Alumni
Mule Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 That looks amazing what you have done there. I have just got my cougar mfd's mounted on another monitor with the data outputting to them. Now i'm looking for a scrap glider :) wife is not going to be happy! Fighter Pilot Podcast.
pcalvert Posted November 17, 2011 Author Posted November 17, 2011 Hi Ragtop - I got in really late last night so didn't have time to do anything...I'm afraid I have no idea what to do... so maybe you can explain what you said...'modify the Indicator.init lua file in the (install location)/scripts/aircraft/A-10C/ALR169 folder' ... Could you tell me how I need to modify it? and also - How do I need to 'modify the Monitor Setup file in the config folder'? If you have some examples I think I could do it. If I can just get the RWR to show on my second monitor, I'm sure I could work out how to get it in the correct position! Ragtop Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 You're correct, it's referred to as the AN ALR-69. I'm finally home with some time to spare for a night and for tomorrow! SO. First download the necessary file from the link I put in my earlier post. Replace the file of the same name in the (Install/Scripts/Aircraft/A-10C/AN ALR-69) directory. This enables the indicator to be exported as a viewport. Take note of the name (in caps) at this line of text "vp = env.RWR_SCREEN" This is what your RWR will be referred to when creating your monitor configuration file. Now, go to the (Install/Config/Monitor Setup) directory, and duplicate the default config file. Call it anything you like. Now, open the file and add this RWR_SCREEN = { x = 1000; y = 1245; width = 170; height = 170; } Change the X and Y values to position the RWR, and the width and height to change it's size. Save the file and boot DCS. Finally you need to go to options and change your resolution to the combined size of your screen. Say for instance your top display is 1920x1080, and your bottom screen is 1440x900, then your resolution entered would be 1920x1980. (You do not add the widths because 1920 is your widest screen, you do not need to go past that, only up and down.) The aspect ratio will adjust itself automatically. Finally select the monitor config file you created and named from the drop down box. Hopefully this will get you through it, I found the hardest part was the positioning and sizing of the RWR! Any more questions don't hesitate to ask. 476th vFG Alumni
airdog Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 (edited) Take note of the name (in caps) at this line of text "vp = env.RWR_SCREEN" This is what your RWR will be referred to when creating your monitor configuration file. That line does not exist in the 1110 AN_ALR69V_init.lua the line now reads try_find_assigned_viewport("RWR_SCREEN") THough you monitor .lua does have to reflect what is in the quotes in order for it to show up on your screen. Ragtop quick question now as I think I may be confused here. Did you take the old 1109 .lua files and add them into the 1110 script files? So for example: Take the modded AN_ALR69V_init.lua from the 1109 install and drop it into the 1110 install folder. That could explain why the vp=env line still exists. But on my 1110 install the RWR export has changed to this HERE. Is it possible to do it both ways now? Thanks and i'm not trying to step on any toes here as I am just curious to know without having to mod my setup to find out. Ragtop Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Ah, very interesting point Airdog, I simply backed up my old files and replaced the new ones, seems to be fine. Whether this could lead to other conflicts I honestly don't know, but my layout is very similar to Pcalverts as you may have seen in my thread, and I've had no problems with the files in their current state. Back up the originals is of course common sense, so if it did go wrong then you can simply go back to the vanilla layout. 476th vFG Alumni

Ok...very interesting that they changed the way some were scripted in .lua but they work both ways. No point in changing anything if yours works....I guess its nice that there are 2 ways to do it now. Thanks for letting me know. pcalvert Posted November 18, 2011 Author Posted November 18, 2011 Hi Ragtop, I think I've got it now. I already have my MFCD's set up in my Monitor Setup lua file, so I guess after I replace the AN ALR-69 file I add the RWR_SCREEN = code to my Monitor Setup file.. and change the x and y co-ords accordingly. I'll try it tonight and let you know how it goes. I am still using the 1108 version of A10C but will change to 1110 when I install Win 7. I've been looking at both yours and Airdogs posts and a quick question... is there a problem with 1110? Will I have to change or do anything differently? Have you had any problems with 1110? Thanks again for your (both of you!) help :) Asus Rampage II Extreme, i7 920 @3.8Gh, 6Gb Corsair Dominator 1600hz, Msi GTX 470 Twin Frozr, Corsair 850w Mod PSU, TIR 5, HOTAS WH

The fresh 1110 install has a different RWR lua that you can modify the way I did or you can just replace it with the 1109 style lua and do it ragtops way...is this making sense??
