PlainSight Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 It says here http://www.defenseprocurementnews.com/2010/07/22/u-s-air-force-awards-raytheon-12-6-million-helmet-mounted-integrated-targeting-contract/ That the "world's first full-color, high-resolution, helmet-mounted system for designating targets and steering sensors and weapons" will be fitted to "Air Force and Air National Guard A-10C and F-16C Block 30/32 aircraft." Is this stuff classified or can we expect it in the future? [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
GGTharos Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 It's out for scope for this module AFAIK. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Dimebag1 Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Cool, it would work nicely with trackir. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

That's old stuff men all mig-29, Su-27 or choppers of Mi-24 after version have the same sht ages (wrong) eons ago, well not with all thous features but the same in general. GGTharos what about the same for FC2 with the Su or the Mig???? I mean the ability of targeting with the TrakIr??? Also in a russian page the other day I sow a very similar investigation for the new Su-50T, I think it would be better to have it in the whole cockpit like in DCS but that expensive or absurd. Also it doesn't show the weigh of the helmet but after 30min of flight the pilot would be in helluva of pain. Shinigami out... GGTharos what about the same for FC2 with the Su or the Mig???? I mean the ability of targeting with the TrakIr??? That isn't even anywhere close to an HMD. It isn't quite true to how the real thing works on the MiG/Su, either. The MiG/Su one is both better and worse thatn what is in the game. I have not seen examples of Russian HMDs however, I am only talking about the old HMS. Also in a russian page the other day I sow a very similar investigation for the new Su-50T, I think it would be better to have it in the whole cockpit like in DCS but that expensive or absurd. Shinigami Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 ... what? Like I told you, thought I don't know were they get the money, but is true let me see if I save the page some were. La guerra, asi como es madrastra de los cobardes, es madre de los valientes. Cervantes. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GGTharos Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 No I don't understand what you said at all! :P Like I told you, thought I don't know were they get the money, but is true let me see if I save the page some were. Shinigami Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Sorry some times I write in english like in spanish and is not the same structure. What part didn't you understand??? La guerra, asi como es madrastra de los cobardes, es madre de los valientes. Cervantes. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GGTharos Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I don't understand what you're talking about concerning the T-50 at all ... I know they are looking into making an HMD for it. The US already has JHMCS which is a full HMD + HMS solution, and it doesn't make anyone's neck hurt. The US already has JHMCS which is a full HMD + HMS solution, and it doesn't make anyone's neck hurt. The part of the weight was a joke, the helmet seems so big that.... well joke apart.... Of the Su-50T I was talking that they were looking to make one similar or better don't know like JHMCS that's all. You get me right this time???? Shinigami Out... GGTharos Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Yeah I get you. Not sure you can get much better than JHMCS right now :D Making something similar would already be a feat. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Shinigami Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Yeah I get you. Not sure you can get much better than JHMCS right now :D Making something similar would already be a feat. Well my teacher say, that wen you present to a two engineers teams with the same problem they usually come with a very similar solution to the problem and the history has demonstrated it many times. B1 and Tu-160, Mig-25 and F-15 etc.. So they like come out with the same helmet or one very similar. Shinigami out... La guerra, asi como es madrastra de los cobardes, es madre de los valientes. GGTharos Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Bad examples ... Tu-160 and B-1B are completely different except for looks. MiG-25 and F-15 aren't even really comparable. Well pursue of the supersonic bomber came out with e very similar airframe for both sides so I think is well example. yes Mig-25 and F-15 are incomparable cause they have different roles etc.., but then again I was talking about the air frame. Shinigami out... PS: yes the airframe have differences but I say similar not equal. La guerra, asi como es madrastra de los cobardes, es madre de los valientes. Cervantes. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GGTharos Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Well pursue of the supersonic bomber came out with e very similar airframe for both sides so I think is well example. It isn't ... completely different weights, speeds, and penetration profiles :) yes Mig-25 and F-15 are incomparable cause they have different roles etc.., but then again I was talking about the air frame. Shinigami out... PS: yes the airframe have differences but I say similar not equal. Not even the airframes are comparable. The MiG-25 is a 5g interceptor made of steel with no real visibility :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Shinigami Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 (edited) It isn't ... completely different weights, speeds, and penetration profiles :) Yes I know ,then again I say SIMILAR not EQUAL!!!!! Not even the airframes are comparable. The MiG-25 is a 5g interceptor made of steel with no real visibility :) Well that's arguable some say that one is based on the other or vice versa you decide but the air frame are similar. In the end choose wherever example you think is right and read the phrase I used. Edited April 5, 2011 by Shinigami La guerra, asi como es madrastra de los cobardes, es madre de los valientes. GGTharos Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Yeah, some people say. Shinigami Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 (edited) Yeah, some people say. They look similar and that is where it ends. :) that's my point, is a shame I don't write in english well, but my spanish is better:) What other idioms you know perhaps Jap jejejejeje Edited April 5, 2011 by Shinigami La guerra, asi como es madrastra de los cobardes, es madre de los valientes. VincentLaw Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Yeah, some people say. They look similar and that is where it ends. :) So that makes the MiG-31 a MiG-25E then right? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Shinigami Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 The helmet I was talking is the Topsight E is joint venture with the french La guerra, asi como es madrastra de los cobardes, es madre de los valientes. Cervantes. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
