RodBorza Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Yep, after 60 days off of my beloved A-10, I'm back. The level of flight simulator in my blood stream was very low. Now, I took the chance to install a Win 7 Home Premium-64 bit and the last patched version of the sim and I gotta say the game runs more smothly, no CTDs whatsoever and it does look beautiful (ok, I like the eye candy...). And all that in my system which is, for now, very low end (2 GB RAM, ATI 4550), and the game runs perfectly. But not all is fun and games. When I hit the F6 button I don't get a view of the released weapon. Also, and more importantly, I can't find my wingman. I remember on Betas when you hit F2 you could see all the nearby aircrafts in sequence, now I can't. It is hard to know what if your wingman is doing something stupid or not (one more often than the other :D). Has anyone had the same problem (patch 1.1.0.7). That's all. I just wanted to share. And hey, I'm liking the new menu music.:pilotfly: This is an amazing sim! 'Nuff said!:pilotfly: YouTube: SloppyDog
S77th-konkussion Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 You are saying that none of the externals work? All I can think of is to check the misc option tab and see if the external views are enabled. If you are saying that only a couple of them are not working.. that could be a key assignment problem- either a conflict or the assignment got deleted.. WarriorX Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Hi RodBorza!.....Welcome Back! You are probably running into the desires of the mission designer, as sometimes they set their missions to not allow labels, or External Views, or your own internal settings. In the Mission Editor you can control the level of External Views. (Look for a check mark in the left hand menu) Just open up the mission you want to edit in the Mission Editor, and save it with a unique name if you want to keep both the original, and your modified version. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "Is that you John Wayne?.......Is this me?" Thanks WarriorX. I'll try that. I'm playing the Instant Action Georgia Spring Easy mission. I'll see if the problem is related to some of the things you noted. Thanks again. This is an amazing sim! nomdeplume Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Also check if you have software like TrackIR or screen/movie capture software that might be intercepting those keypresses.
delta9856 Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Also check if you have software like TrackIR or screen/movie capture software that might be intercepting those keypresses. I was about to suggest this. I couldn't reply to radio messages using keys like F7 because my TrackIR was using it as the smooth function command so I just remapped all of the TrackIR keys to Shift + F7 for example. 1 Oli 'Scarecrow' Lusk Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Intel Core i7 3930K @ 4.20Ghz ASUS Rampage IV Extreme Motherboard 16GB DDR3 RAM EVGA Geforce GTX 680 4GB
RodBorza Posted April 12, 2011 Author Posted April 12, 2011 Thanks to all. But WariorX got it right. The problem is in the Mission Editor, and how the mission designer set the options. I flew other mission with my own modifications on the Editor to allow it to give external views and such, and now it works ok. This is a great game. Every time I go up I fly for three, four hours. Amazing. The other day I always had to sleep till late. Good side of not being working. But now I'm working, there's a downside (less A-10 hours), the good side being able to buy a new video card (my 4550 barely runs it, and still, looks beautifully). Great game. This is an amazing sim! nomdeplume Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 I think if you select the "use these options for all missions" checkbox in the main game options screen, then your settings will override the mission creator's - i.e. the options 'enforced' by the mission editor are only enforced if you haven't selected the "use these options for all missions" option.
NoJoe Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Not all external views are presenting this problem. Only ones are F2 - external aircraft and F7 - View released weapon. F7 is the key to view ground units. F6 views weapons in flight. Not that it solves your problem, but... Just to avoid confusion. :D --NoJoe
