mistral87 Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Hi there, When firing an AIM-120 from TWS mode, do I have keep track of the target till the missile goes pitbull or is it fire-and-forget from launch on? cheers

BTW is this Mistral that was on 104th server recently? S! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GGTharos Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 To add to what RIPTIDE said ... If you drop the track before pitbull, the missile will remain on its current flight vector and commence scanning. On a high lofted shot it means it'll fly to the moon and won't pick anything up at all. Or, if the bandit maneuvers, it won't be in the missile's capture zone. Thanks. Does the plane then send updates to the missile, or how does it work (I figure there is not enough focused radar energy for the missile to home in to like in STT)? Yep it is me. Got shot to pieces, thats why I hit the books again. ^^
GGTharos Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Yes, it sends updates to the missile. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

durka-durka Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Call me stoopid, but can you explain "going pitbull?" And is there an indication that it's gone that way? 492nd Squadron CO (F-15E): JTF-111 - Discord Link
