Roll Trim

Hi Villain,

You are aware of the roll trim? can you use it to cancel out the rolling forces?

Because I use my single hat switch for multiple HOTAS functions, I sometimes find that if I havent pressed the correct modifier I am actually dialling in roll trim when I am trying to change the MFCDs.

Nope i have no idea what that is to be quite honest, you can probably tell im a casual sim player i love the detail in the game but dont necessarily get all the technical stuff :)

I'd definitely recommend you get (beg, borrow, or steal) at least a control stick of some nature. The X52 is under $100 if you can afford that and does pretty much everything... alas... I lust after the Warthog HOTAS, but being that you're casual I wouldn't point you towards that.

Frankly, the game is so detailed that you are jeapordizing your continued enjoyment of the game by not getting a joystick. I'd get one. That way you can also enjoy other flight sims and FPS games that allow you to operate flying vehicles. It really does add to the experience.

Take a look at the Wiki here: http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/DCS:_A10C_Training_Supplements

Download the PDF "A-10C Sim Mode default mapped keyboard commands".

Look for trim to learn what the keyboard shortcuts are. This will help you I would imagine!

Im experiencing the same pull to the right issue and Im not sure what is causing it. Its not my joystick, my stick is calibrated perfectly. Am I missing a trim I need to adjust???

Hard to say without a track. You might be experiencing the same issue as the OP, in which case it's a known issue in the dynamic weather generator. If you can save and upload a track file recording the issue, I can take a look.

Trim is something pilots use to cancel out constant stick forces. The A-10 has a pitch trim and a roll trim. Both can be mapped to keys or joystick functions in the options part of the interface.

If you have a constant rolling moment you can use roll trim to cancel that out, allowing you to concentrate on using the weapons or looking at the nice scenery.

The Thrustmaster T1600 is a VERY good CHEAP joystick. Great if you dont want to commit the big money for a proper HOTAS settup (X52/ thrustmaster warthog etc).

If just starting out, I would get a Track IR and Thrustmaster T1600, rather than the warthog stick. you will still have loads of money left over for buying DCS Blackshark and the upcoming warthog scenery package.

Teriander,

Create a new mission with no wind or dynamic weather and see if the problem persists.

If so, then it seems likely to be input of some kind (most probably the Rudder axis!)

When in the cockpit, press ctrl-enter to bring up the controls overlay, this will show you any input the game is receiving.

If you find spurious input in the rudder Axis, then double check your axis settings and make sure that ONLY 1 axis is assigned from one device.

I had a problem for a while there because both my Saitek Pedals AND the X52 twist were assigned to rudder input, and they would fight and cause problems.

If not those things, then you should upload a track like Etherain suggested so someone can have a look to reproduce.
