CptTangerine Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Hi Is there any way to request a repeat of co-ordinates given by CAOC? In Smerch Hunt I bomb a Smerch and the angle leaves me pulling up like crazy and trying to avoid flying into a mountain, and THAT's the time that CAOC thinks is a good time to start gabbling co-ordinates at me. Now, obviously, I can pause the game (and I do) but that's not very realistic. It would be nice to sort myself out and ask them to say again. Suggestions appreciated. Cheers! MTFDarkEagle Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 You could check your MSG page (right MFCD IIRC). Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
CptTangerine Posted May 24, 2011 Author Posted May 24, 2011 I tried that. There's only the message from JTAC. For some reason CAOC messages only come over as voice, there's no data message to back them up. They don't seem to have a radio channel they can be contacted on. nomdeplume Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 No these are scripted, pre-recorded messages that are played in response to specific events that the mission author set up. It's nothing more than 'show this text' and 'play this audio file'. For them to be repeatable the author would have to add a radio command and appropriate triggers to re-play the message when it was selected, but I don't think any of the official missions have that functionality. If they do, you'd find those options under the 'Other' menu (F10) which can be used with any radio. There's also no mechanism for the mission author to send you text messages - that's functionality only the JTAC (and other players in MP flights) can employ. Your best bet if you need to concentrate on flying would be to pause it and scribble it down on a piece of paper, then you can enter it into your CDU at your leisure. If you're in controlled flight then there's normally enough time to scribble it down on paper without pausing.
