Teriander Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 Whats the deal? Why doesn't it just auto-update through steam anyway? I hate dealing with directory changes, deleting, install this before you install that, patch simi, patch full, yadda yadda yadda. I like Steam so the only thing I have to do is come home and play and its already updated with autoupdating. How long before Steam gets the latest???
jpanside Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 hey ED do you have a firm date on when the Steam patch will be live? I am trying to be a good boy and wait :P
Qazme Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 They commented in the forums sometime next week at the earliest for Steam to get updated. As far as deleting this and that you don't have too, all you need to do is download the files and install, I mean honestly downloading a patch and installing it isn't that hard. I had issues trying to 'cheat' the system and get it ahead of time. Lesson learnt that sims like these don't belong on Steam.
Teriander Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 Qazme, sometime next week? Are you serious? I guess I'll look into downloading and updating it manually... I know a lot of customers on this game come from Steam, I guess if it will take another week it must not be easy... Strange.
Qazme Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 Yeah I tried patching it, it works fine, unless you play online like me. The single player version was flawless, but once you try to play online you get an error "Integrity Check Failed" and it boots you out of the server. Other than that everything else worked fine. Not sure what kind of issues you will have in the future like that. However I found it simplier to just grab the files for the game and the update off ED's site and install it using the CD Key from Steam and it's been a joy ever since. And yes at least another week from what they are saying, it could be longer, but nobody knows and no firm date has been given.
