Nate Dogg Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 Hi, Just recently when loading 1.1 (with all updates/fixes) i get this memory error (trying to write to memory/failed). I would even load the main menu previously. I did a fresh install and it fixed the issue for a few days, but now it does it on a regular basis, sometimes when loading the game, other times only when loading a mission. It seems very random. I have just added an extra gig of memory to my system, and had to change the 1T setting in bios to 2T. This is the only thing that has changed that i can think of to cause these errors. I have used different drivers to see if that was the cause, but had no luck. I have run mem tests (prime95) and everything seems fine. Please help me solve this problem cheers
S77th-Dante Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 normerly i would say that perhaps you added a mod from 1.02/1.01 1.00 but your running clean 1.1 right if you did a fresh install perhaps u should check your dxdiag and device manager , perhaps you have a driver or controler driver missing. Nate Dogg Posted July 31, 2005 Author Posted July 31, 2005 Yep im using a fresh install (1.00-1.1) and the following patches from this site. GU LOD fix, stutter fix, setup fix. Thats it. All drivers are in place and running ok. Thanks for the suggestions, any others?? cheers
D17S Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 First bump your memory voltage up to 2.7. While you are there in the bios, relax your memory timings to 3-7-6-6 (or as high a # as they will go). Disable any "Turbo" game mode that may be in the Bios. For instance, the Intel 865 chip set had a way to emulate the 875 chips. Turn that off. I’m an Intel guy (until my next system, that is!) so I don’t know much about the AMD stuff. If no luck there, get Mother Board Monitor (google/free) and record a voltage log while you are running the game. That extra gig of memory may have drug you down "one volt under the line." Is this a duel channel board? Are the new sticks matched? Loaded any new codecs lately? LOMAC can be real finicky about which codecs it will allow on “its” machine. Just a thought. That FX55 is a terrible thing to waste!
Nate Dogg Posted July 31, 2005 Author Posted July 31, 2005 I think i may have soved it, i ran another memory test and it didn't like it too much, so i have it running stable now. I also did a full re-install with lots of defraging and re booting during each install step. Also changed my page file to system set, rather than custom. Im using two sets of the matched 512Mb corsair 3200XL (2-2-2-5) ram chips. Haven't been able to test lockon much since, been forced into studying or gardening. I know which one id go for! Hopefully im good to go now tonight. Thanks for the assistance guys. cheers
