hassata Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 Is there a good use for the Hud SPI Sub-mode where the SPI tracks the gun reticle? It cannot be stabilized or locked, right? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Tracer2k Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 also, i think you could aim your gun using your tgp in bad weather.. :P or am i wrong with this one? :D WOOOOoooooo ------------------------------------------------------ AMD Phenom II x6 1090T 3.2GHz Black edition 8GB DDR3 1333 GeForce GTX580 Windows 7 64bit ------------------------------------------------------
Frostiken Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 For what it's worth, any weather so bad you can't see what you're shooting is weather so bad that there wouldn't be any aircraft flying around. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Crescendo Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 It's good with datalink to show where your CCIP gun or bomb point is to tell your other flight members or JTAC that you're attacking and where your aim point is. In a circumstance where I plan to share my SPI, I would personally just use the TGP's point of interest as SPI and perform a CCIP gun-run or munition drop on the TGP diamond. . [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
hassata Posted June 5, 2011 Author Posted June 5, 2011 I would too, but I can see how this would be useful if you chance upon a target of opportunity and roll in for a quick run. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Seil Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 We use it a lot in my squadron, especially when working as a 2 ship wing. Pilot 1 locks target with TGP Point Tracking; Broadcast SPI via SADL. Pilot 2 Hooks SPI of Pilot 1 using TAD; Slave TGP to Guns and use TAD Hook indicators on HUD to align run in on target. Once in a dive on target and pipper occults Hook box, look to TGP and align sights on target; Pull for PAC; Pull for GUNS GUNS GUNS! ;) -Seil -Seil WotG Founder & A10C Lead
