bob_baer Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Hi guys I'm trying to implement the attack from high altitudes above 20.000 as you suggest, but I don't even find the tanks with mavericks!!!! Is it because I'm not understanding something or I just have to keep on searching? Should I dive in the attack area exposing to Sam?
Teriander Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Find the targets via Targeting Pod first. Then SOI the Mavericks to the target you spotted with your TGP. Zoom in the mavericks view and lock on to the target. Easy kill from 20k feet.
bob_baer Posted June 6, 2011 Author Posted June 6, 2011 In the devil campaign they don't give me the targeting point, only mavericks but it seems I'm too high to see anything
Teriander Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 You can assign your weapon loadout when you're on the ground parked at anytime. Just press the \ key and chat with "Ground Crew" > Rearm > Select a weapons loadout that you like and includes the Pod. I personally Like Anti Armor > option 9. If you going to fly that high you will need a Targeting Pod.

A better way for a mission like this would be to tweak your loadout via the mission planner screen prior to launching the mission. This is just so you have more control over what you bring to the battle. Also, if the mission planner is showing you targets don't be afraid to add to, tweak, and change up your flight plan. The way I look at it the mission planner is your intel and I use it to plan out the mission and make some changes to make my life easier once I am up in the air. If the mission builders didn't want people doing this then they should of hid the hostile targets. Once you are in the air though if you are engaging anything at those altitudes then a targeting pod is generally a must because you are too high up for the Mk 1 to do you any good and as you can see the seeker head for mavericks isn't that great for spotting and identifying targets. Once you find a group of targets with the TGP then at that point you usually can fire on the target you selected with the pod and then you should be close enough to see and engage what else is nearby using the Mavs to select, lock on, and kill whats left without having to switch back to the TGP. That will allow you to get your missiles off a lot quicker and then go back to the TGP and find the next group to engage.
