jetdx Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 I am sick of looking in the forms for what I am looking for so I just created my own thread. I downloaded an AAR practice mission (I think it is a mission). How do I get that into DCS: A-10C "mission" menu so I can fly it?
nomdeplume Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Missions will have a .miz extension. You just need to place them somewhere where the game will look for them. The best option is in your personal mission's folder (rather than the 'system' missions folder), which will, for Vista/Win7 users, be at C:\Users\username\Saved Games\A-10C Warthog\Missions Then in the mission selection dialog, there's an option for system missions or user missions, which just changes the directory it looks in. You can also browse your whole system from that dialog so technically the mission can be anywhere you want, but the 'missions' directory is the most convenient.
jetdx Posted June 20, 2011 Author Posted June 20, 2011 yes...I see that and now have tried that MANY times. AAR practice mission is zipped when it is downloaded. After I download it zipped I extract them all to the folder that you described but they are not .miz files so they are not recognized. I hope that it is a "brain fart" on my part. THX
ivanwfr Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Don't extract their contents, they should remain zipped, and kept with their miz extension as they will be unzipped by the sim on the fly.
Nate--IRL-- Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Yes *miz files are just *.zip files with the name extension changed. They are extracted as the mission is loaded. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading

THX I had the same problem a while ago. When I donload missions using windows explorer I couldn't get them to work. Even by changing the file from .zip to .miz I read a tip on this site recomending using firefox to download and it worked. The folder came down as .miz
Soul Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 you should also start using a download manager firefox has several of them.
