I'm not using the saitek profiling software. I'm trying to configure the joystick directly in lomac. Here's my problem, when I go to change a key it will automatically select "button33" or "button34" immediately after the button press box pops up.

If i'm fast enough I can press the button I want before it auto picks 33 or 34. This trick works on most of the joystick buttons except the "clutch" and scroll wheel button. In the joystick control panel 33&34 blink when the scroll wheel is spun, but they are not constantly on, I'm not sure why lomac is detecting it. Has anyone managed to create a config for the x52 directly in lomac? and am I getting this because lockon doesn't seem to know how to use this stick? I just got it today and I would prefer not to use the saitek profiler (or worse the magic keyboard and magic mouse)

It's not what you want to hear . . . . . but the Saitek profiler is MUCH better than trying to map it in Lomac.

Actually, I tell a lie - what works best is a mixture of both. I have each HUD mode mapped to slightly different key combinations, and then 3 modes for the joystick itself. Works very nicely . . . .

If Lomac is detecting constant keypresses from one of the sliders, then there really isn't much you can do about that without using the profiler software at least somewhere.

Try mapping the scroll wheel axis to zoom first, and see if it then accepts it as an axis and throws out any other input it might have.

yea I had the same problem withh button 33/34 so I gave up and used the SST software, works like a dream.

I use my precision slider for zoom

rotorary 1(i think) for radar range

mouse ministick for cockpit mouse look (untill i get TIR3 pro)

and that leaves my hotas for target slew and combat modes

Try the SST software..its worth it :icon_jook :icon_jook

I had the same thing. The problem is with the combo button/ wheel on the rear of the throttle that emulates the mouse wheel/ right mouse button. It's sticking.

I returned my controller to Saitek and they repaired it for me. Now everything works 100%.

But as it is I still use the profiling software. I don't think you can use the shift modes etc without it ...can you?

I think I'm getting the hang of it now, it seems the mousestick, mousebutton and scrollwheel is a duplication of an actual mouse; which is a huge dissappointment for me because they wasted 9 buttons on the throttle to duplicate a mouse I already have. My impression of this hotas is it was geared towards casual simmers who play games like bf2, games with controls so primitive, they require a mouse functionality on the joystick.

The stick is amazing. It is very precise and the twist handle isn't as bad as I feared. It's huge improvement over the x45, the adjustable rest is my fav. My only dislike of the stick is it has too many buttons (while the throttle doesn't have enough).

The performance of the profiling software is abysmal because there is a slight delay when joystick commands are translated into keyboard presses. I had a funny bug once where a certain joystick combination would result in an alt-tab to the desktop. If configured correctly you can do anything you want with the ingame config including 4 shiftmodes (shift, control, windows and alt)

@coldcrew - Spend more time with Saitek profiling software, and you notice that you can disable mouse duplication on that little stick, and mousewheel(mousebutton) and use it for other things.! So don't say "They have wasted buttons for duplicating mouse", because you don't even have a clue what your joystick is capable of. Saitek has not given you X52 profiling software and drivers without a reason. It's the core of their product and should not be ignored by its user.

F.e.

In my profiles mousewheel is for flaps. Mousewheel up is for full flaps retraction, mousewheel down full flaps extraction. When I press the mousewheelbutton it is like pressing F button, so half flaps.

Pinky(swift)+mousewheelbutton - gears up/down.

The mousebutton which is next to that ministick on the throttle, is autothrottle. With shift(pinky) it is althold.

The ministick is used to move my radar cone (radar cone UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT, EOS scan zone UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT)

1. Switch ministick's X and Y axis to BANDS.

2. Then on the X axis create 3 of them.

0-40% SHIFT+,

40%-60% leave empty

60%-100% SHIFT+.

3. Then on the Y axis also create 3 bands.

0-40% SHIFT+;

40%-60% leave empty

60%-100% SHIFT+.

From now on you can move radar antenna, up and down (to target's expected altitude ), and left and right.

I use POV HAT3 (the one on the throttle) to move Target designator around.

edit: If you need my profile to see exactly how it is done, PM me via some instant messanger like MSN, or ICQ and I'll send it to you.

The saitek software is actually very powerful it just takes some time using it to figure out how to get it to do what you want.

One example is I used to have my airbrake set to deploy on one keypress and then retract after a second keypress. Alot of times I would forget I had the brake out so I made a new advanced command that would extend the brake as long as I hold the assigned key down and as soon as I release it the brake retacts automaticly..
