LostOblivion Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Hello, Ever since ED added random failures as an option in the options menu, I've wondered if I should turn it on or not. I mean...how often does these errors happen? How realistic is it that some avionics system bugs out, and should I turn this setting to on if I want to play with full realism? -Lost Nice plane on that gun... EtherealN Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I don't know if the frequencies used in the simulator are realistic, but "random" failures in themselves are definitely realistic. An aircraft like that has so many parts and systems and even if each of them has a high MTBF, you'll still see something bug out reasonably often. GGTharos Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 The failure frequencies are reasonably reaslistic, but actual exact failure data for A-10C components are not available. The failure rates are based on averages that were gathered from the industry. And yes, it is more realistic to turn those on, and bird collisions as well. Frostiken Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Well not so much 'not available' as simply 'not modeled'. I mean, you could just ask me. I do avionics. I fix them. When they are broke. Blarp. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
