I am in the process of creating a mission which will use a scout plane to call targets from bullseye. Since I am not using the scout plane as AFAC, I have set the plane to orbit the waypoint but need to set it to a condition of "group dead".

As the mission stands now, the scout plane calls bull for the first target group, then blows past the remaining waypoints as no other targets have been activated.

I know when using as AFAC it is a simple as checking the "is user" start as 1 and stop as 0. What code needs to be added to the "condition" to cause the scout plane to orbit intil the group is dead.

Also, is there a thread which details all the basic commands that can be used as these conditions?

The mission is tutorial on inputting the calls from bullseye into the CDU and locating ground targets

Thanks

Hey Shelt,

Make a trigger that activates when the group in question is dead set a flag, say 5, to true, and then you can set the STOP CONDITION to USER flag 5 is true, and they will stop orbiting once the group in question is dead. :)

Nice plane on that gun...

If you edit the Orbit waypoint option, go to 'Stop Condition,' there's an option there titled 'User,' this means Flags that the user specifies. Set that to whatever numbered flag is activated when the desired group is dead (all it requires is the flag's number).

Will give it a try, I was thinking it would require a lua expression for the group being dead.

What I see in the ME is just the phrase "is user", but the manual does show it as "is user flag". Just had me a little confused just what "user" was being implied

thanks for the replies

More detailed:

1. Open your triggers dialog by clicking on the "Set rules for trigger" button on the left of the mission editor.

2. Under the leftmost box, click "NEW", set TYPE to 1 ONCE and then call it something like "Hostile Group Dead".

3. Under the middle box, click "NEW" and then select "TYPE" as "GROUP DEAD" and select your group.

4. Under the right box, click "NEW" and then select "ACTION" as "FLAG ON" and, say, 5.

5. Go to your AFAC flight, select the waypoint you want it to orbit.

6. Click ADVANCED, under the waypoint selector, click ADD, set TYPE to Perform Action and ACTION to Orbit.

7. While Orbit is selected, press STOP CONDITION and set IS USER to 5.

Voila! Now the AFAC will hold in orbit until the group is dead. :)

I think IS USER is really IS USER FLAG but the value box is so large it covers the FLAG bit...

For some reason I had the impression the "is user" indicates dead (0) or alive (1), must have read in a previous post something along those lines anyways.

The "is user" relating to flags makes much more sense now that it has been pointed out
