bonemarrow Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 I'm gonna try patching to 1.1.0.9 and see if I have any problems before I jump into a full install. I wonder if anybody is having issues just applying the patch over 1.1.0.8? Main question is: should I do anything with the c\user....\dcsa-10c\save game folder (like delete it) before applying the patch? Or is that only nessesary for a new full install? Thanks.

Only delete if your install somehow became corrupted and you are experiencing problems. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? bonemarrow Posted July 24, 2011 Author Posted July 24, 2011 (edited) Pardon this stupid question but, which folder do I choose when the setup asks which folder to install in? My game is in: E\programfiles\steam\steamapps\common\dcsa-10c warthog. But when I select the main folder, it adds ...\new folder at the end and it says that 1.1.0.8 needs to be installed and drops out to desktop? If I delete the '\new folder' then it asks if I want to overwrite the whole ...\dcsa-10c folder. That makes me nervous, so I thought I'd ask here first. Do I direct it to one of the sub-folders like Bizar or Bin? EDIT: Disregard, fellas, I got it. Edited July 24, 2011 by bonemarrow update
ericleroi Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 (edited) The \new folder should be removed during the install (i.e. the path trimmed when it is presented) and it will proceed correctly. It would be worthwhile taking a backup of the Steam install directory for Warthog first. For info, I downloaded the full install and ran so I had both a Steam and a non-steam version; it seemed to install correctly without me needing to do anything extra. WFIW, doing an A/B comparison between the 1.1.0.8 Steam version and the 1.1.0.9 full install, I noticed that there was a 15-20% drop in performance, hence the suggestion to take the backup in case this installation approach method is sub-optimal for some reason. I'm about to apply the patch to the Steam version shortly and will report back. First post for me here .... Edit: I've applied the patch and can confirm, for me anyway, I get a significant drop in performance applying the patch to the Steam version. Takeoff training mission drops from around 52fps to 43fps when it starts up. Second Edit: The patch reinstalls the graphics.cfg file which I'd made some changes to. I've added these back in and all is good. Edited July 24, 2011 by ericleroi TM HOTAS Warthog : Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals GTX580 (3Gb) : i7 2600k : 8Gb DDR3 : Asus P8P67 Pro W7 64bit
