I noticed in a Youtube video -

that a pilot that ejected could walk around.

 

I do not care about exploring the environment but it would be cool to start from a hanger or office and then walk/drive to the aircraft then do a walk around like pilots do in real life. Also end the flight by getting out of the jet.

 

No big deal on this one, just seems like it might would work and could add to the realism that one extra little bit.

Unfortunately, that is actually not much more than an easter egg. It represents only something like 5% tops of what would be required to make such a feature - if indeed anything except the walking animation itself could even be re-used for it at all.

 

Unfortunately I suspect it's one of those that might be neat, but aren't worth spending the resources to implement.

Yeah, i would much rather developers spend time on the important things.

Unfortunately I suspect it's one of those that might be neat, but aren't worth spending the resources to implement.

 

But it probably wouldn't be terribly hard to do- the ability to walk around, get into vehicles, spawn into a cockpit is basically there. However, they would need to make changes all over the place within the code in order to make it possible for the pilot to spawn first, the pilot to be able to walk to a jet that's sitting there empty, and then despawn the pilot and spawn the player into the cockpit. You probably would also want to be able to get out of the pit and walk around at all without having to eject. And you want this to work in multiplayer. So probably not hard at all, but a good deal of work, but saying it's only 5% done? That depends on what you want to count towards implementing a feature, and what you don't want to count towards that.

 

The question is, is this feature worth ED's time all by itself? No, probably not. But if it tied into other features they wanted to implement... by the previous dev statements about their future aspirations, I would say that it's quite likely that this kind of feature would/will come eventually.

Ok... Want to know a really over thought out wish that could be (but shouldn't be spent time on) added to this too........And I have no hopes or even wish that they spend a lot of time on it:

 

What if you ejected while flying and they sent a SAR for you once you got on the ground....Hehe...again, I would rather have cool features like the way they did the JTAC instead of wasting time on my suggestion.
