Hi guys,

I am afraid I could find no other thread suitable for this post.

I am moving house in a month and its a dream come true, middle of no where with a holiday let attatched and 5 acres for the horses.

Trouble is the broadband is quoted as 1 MB maximum:mad: I am currently on 24Mb.

Is Mobile broadband a better option for me? I see high speeds quoted and am happy to pay within reason for a decent connection, but at 1 Mb I might as well sell my PC:cry:

Depends on what kind of latency you can get. Usually wireless stuff has atrocious latency and odd packet loss.

Might want to look at a combination of wired and wireless, maybe via a sattelite and segregate by latency priority what's going to get pulled in over the line and what over the air.

Otherwise try to get a fiber pulled. Probably not going to happen though.

If the mobile connection is suitable, it could be an option. How far away are you from the next bigger settlement? And how's the enviroment around - sounds more like plains, which would be good, but it's allways risky. If the enviroment is suitable and you're lucky, you could get at least 3 - 5 mbit out of the mobile. But 1mbit is pretty okay for flying, you've a slightly higher ping, but as long as you've autoupdates etc controlled, it should (should!) work. Anyway, wishing many delight with that house, it sounds beautiful (:

There's no "Overkill". There's only "open fire!" and "time to reload".
