Ali Fish Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 (edited) As the title suggests anyone have any good places in the world where u can get close and personal with the aircraft without breaking rules tresspassing etc etc. My favourite spot is LFA 7, The RAF's low level training area in wales commonly known as the mach loop. Ogwen valley. heres the timetable. http://www.raf.mod.uk/crowales/exerciseops/lfa7ttimetable.cfm heres a vid of what you can expect. just 1 of about 300 hundred video examples of this area. i reckon you get closer here than at any airshows. Theres a vid of a GR4 in a steep bank saluting the camera man lol. so anyone got a better spot than this ????????????? Edited August 9, 2011 by Ali Fish [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
dotChuckles Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 It's not better... but if you're looking for civil aviation and are in Edinburgh, this is my favourite spot... http://maps.google.co.uk/?ll=55.954514,-3.346741&spn=0.000463,0.001782&t=h&z=20&layer=c&cbll=55.954514,-3.346741&panoid=VuU5IsRmCYxP7g1VemwdIQ&cbp=11,275.08,,0,0.74 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Ali Fish Posted August 9, 2011 Author Posted August 9, 2011 yeah thats pretty sweet though. but i fear LFA7 is thee place to do it, certainly in britain. what about america & russia surely there gota be some similar spots. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
power5 Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 I would think the USA pretty much does their flight training in Base areas which are usually restricted to military personnel. Not sure about the area around nellis, but that could be a possibility. That spot is much better than an air show. You are looking straight at the jets not up at them. Cannot ask for a better place to watch military jets zoom by. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Aaron i7 2600k@4.4ghz, GTX1060-6gb, 16gb DDR3, T16000m, Track IR5 BS2-A10C-UH1-FC3-M2000-F18C-A4E-F14B-BF109
