Phantom88 Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Milviz,"Military Visualizations" http://www.milviz.com/ Is in late development of what looks to be a very good representation of a F-15E StrikeEagle for FSX.One of the Beta testers posted this 2-ship flight.Reminded me of my Jane's F-15E Days. Patrick
EtherealN Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Lost me at "FSX"... :P (And even I can fly formation landing better than that! :D ) Well, to be fair, might be nice, but I'll never understand the attraction of military jets in FSX. If they could beat military simulations in flight model fidelity, maybe, but... Phantom88 Posted August 13, 2011 Author Posted August 13, 2011 Haha! Yeah,I'm very spoiled with the flight dynamics and fidelity of DCS aswell. It's fantastic! But as of late,There are a handful of 3rd party developers [A2A,VRS,RealAir] that are breaking the boundaries of FSX limitations. It's getting interesting IMHO. Patrick
EtherealN Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Just wait for DCS:Next. :P I do have to see if I can try out one of the A2A accusim ones at some point though. Impact Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 I think one major point is that you have the whole earth as your sandbox. Who wouln't like flying with the F22 through the grand canyon? ------=:: I FLY BLEIFREI ::=------
EtherealN Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 You can't fly an F22 through the grand canyon in FSX either. You can fly a crappy cartoon version of the F22 through it, sure. I'm not thrilled though. ;) And a bigger point is: the F22 is a warfighter. You can fly fast through the Grand Canyon with a Learjet too. An F-22 skin doesn't add anything to that experience. EtherealN Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 But to get some balance back into this thread: if they get a very good flight model in, I'll actually be prepared to pay for it - if only to make some comparisons and checks. It wouldn't be "what I play", but still interesting. But that would depend a lot on the credentials of the flight model and the pricetag. EtherealN Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 (edited) I'm telling you FSX is FSX. If you want to "fly an F22", just take the Superhornet model and replace it with an F22. You're flying an F22, aren't you? Flying an "F22" in FSX is about as correct as flying the JAS-39 mod in FC2 is flying the JAS-39. Nevermind that it uses a rediculously simplified F-16 flight model... It's a JAS-39! In the case of the F-22 specifically, I'd actually say that there's no such thing as "flying it" in a simulator, ever. There is no simulator that can do that for you, and won't be for quite some time - simply because too much is classified. You can't fly it unless you are an actual F-22 pilot in the USAF. Period. Impact Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 I'm telling you FSX is FSX. Off course it is. And I find it stupid trying to mod a civil flightsimulation into a combat flightsim. But thats not the point. Most people enjoy the graphics and the possibility to fly all around the globe. ------=:: I FLY BLEIFREI ::=------
EtherealN Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 (I edited my post wile you were typing, sorry) I'm not talking about the combat aspect. I'm talking about flying it. As far as ANY commercial simulator can go, right now, you might as well take an F-15C flight model, give it the 229 engines + TVC, and that's as close as you'll get. Point being: it'll still be VERY far from the truth, and even if you were to miraculously strike it just right - no-one will let you know that's what you did, because it's classified. So as far as any commercial simulator goes, anywhere on this planet that isn't a USAF facility, you might as well be flying a learjet dressed up in an F-22 skin.
