acdarc Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Hi, I'm having a small trouble with the TMS switch. When I drop bombs with CCIP/CCRP in the unguided bombs training scenario it works just fine. But when I'm trying the TGP training tutorial, and after it tells me to slave all sensors to SPI, slew over the target (which all go well) and switch over to area/point tracking mode with TMS, the TMS won't do anything. I've checked the mapping in options multiple times and it is correctly set up and work on other trainings. When I look at the virtual stick while clicking the TMS on my joystick, the TMS switch moves accordingly to what I'm pressing as it should. What am I doing wrong here? It won't change tracking mode, it's not doing anything (yes, the right MFCD/TGP is SOI). The narrator won't continue and nothing happens after that point.
acdarc Posted August 15, 2011 Author Posted August 15, 2011 Actually, now it worked. The tutorial guided me to use china hat forward to switch to the narrow view, but in that view the TMS wouldn't respond. When I zoomed out, TMS started to work again. Is that supposed to happen?
MagnumHB Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 The TGP could be close to getting masked. Try pointing your nose directly at the target and ensure that the TGP has a clear line of sight.
Speed Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Yea... if you're trying to enter point track, you need to have your aircraft's nose pointed at the target, and you also need to be pretty close too- often within 10-15 nm. All point track does is make it easier to follow moving targets by auto-tracking them. If your target is stationary, no need to use point track at all, and if your target is moving, you can just manually track the target instead of using point track. 159th_Viper Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 ......and you also need to be pretty close too- often within 10-15 nm....... Complementary to the above, keep in mind that BHOT and/or WHOT increases range where Point Track will initialise as opposed to CCD. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career?
