Vecko Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 (edited) Looks like there is no way to restart tested engine after EEG/PT-1/PT-2 channels test procedures. Manual/page 159: The “СТ-1” (PT-1) and “СТ-2” (PT-2) channels operate independently from each other. To generate an engine shut down signal it is necessary that both channels have detected a PT over-speed with a time difference of no more than 0.2 seconds. In case of a PT RPM over-limit detection by only one channel, or by both of them but with a time gap of more than 0.2 seconds, the signal is ignored as a false alarm and no action is taken. If during test mode with an illuminated warning light and a rotor RPM of 86.5%, the selector can be rapidly switched to the other channel (СТ-1 – СТ-2) without holding it in the middle “РАБОТА” (OPERATION) position; the tested engine will shut down. After doing this ,i was unable to restart again tested engine, even with false start and crank procedure ?! Is it really true that power turbine channels test procedure can damage engine and brake spooling ability or am i doing something wrong?Bug maybe? Also, can someone ,please ,reproduce for me situation where false start and crank procedure are actually useful ? ED Team Yo-Yo Posted September 7, 2011 ED Team Posted September 7, 2011 Try to motor the engine before restart. kylania Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 (edited) Bah, ignore me, thought this was the DCS A-10C forum! :( Look for similar switches though heheh The ENG OPER switches just above the APU START switch. Set the ENG OPER switch for the engine to the MOTOR setting (down). Wait for the engine ITT to be below 100C when below 15,000ft. Restart the engine by moving the throttle from OFF to IDLE. Finally move the ENG OPER switch again back to NORM. 159th_Falcon Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 "Motor" ? Yup, also known as "cranking" meaning you will turn the motor by means of the starter motor, without actually starting the motor. While doing this fuel can be injected also, or not, dictated by the make of the engine. for example on some engines the fuel is also the lubrication for the HMU which governs the engines, thus critical that there is fuel flow whenever the engine is turning 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The keeper of all mathematical knowledge and the oracle of flight modeling.:)
Vecko Posted September 8, 2011 Author Posted September 8, 2011 (edited) Ha! I have find a solution! This is not bug ,rather it is EEG "feature". Power turbine shut down signal is continuously generated after engine is turned off and that's why i was unable to restart engine again. After EEG restart , i manage to turn on engine completely normal. Tnx all for helping me.S! Edited September 8, 2011 by Vecko [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Virtual Aerial Operations
