Well, around the new year I hope to finally be building a bulldozer system with windows 7 ult.

Would you guys care to comment on what the switch was like or things to look out for. Anything not work anymore or better with all Lock on BS A10c SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE. Including inputs like track ir 4, 5, logitech sticks, g940, keyboards, warthog TM stick, any other hardware or software that pertains to these flight sims.... TY Maybe this infomation is somewhere else too. Looking for specific information. Most of probley understand the basics of the win 7 switch and the vitualization.

Specifics would require specific questions. In general, everything works better on Win 7. Just start a driver collection.

Not information, but a question, first: Why Ultimate? Which of the Ultimate-specific functions do you intend to use? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7_editions

If you want XP-mode specifically for any legacy software, you're good with Professional. I don't really see much else that is especially useful. I use Home Premium and I haven't missed anything, and functions that are not used are just bloat that will complicate your system.

Regarding software, I'd say you'll generally find Win7 to be a smooth ride. There can be some issues in a few cases - for example, FC1 would require an updated DRM driver to work. (Available for download.) FC2 is unaffected (it doesn't even use a driver). Aside from that, Win7 is a LOT better at memory handling as well as working with multiple CPU's and multithreaded software. Don't really think there's any specific stuff needed; most things will either work on the plug-and-play, or let you get on with it through a simple driver download.

Well to be honest one of our techs is claiming he has a 7 copy of ultimate I can have and use, update for free.

Plus I would like to get back into virtual machines a little. With a 8 core bulldozer in the box. I would like to push some electrons and nutrons around. I just thought maybe there might be something to look out for or a tweak. Good to hear the smooth sailing part. THANKS!!!
