As the title says,

Brand new unit and I am assuming that the speed brake switch is not supposed to hold in the forward position. Or is it? It really feels like it was meant to work that way but that does not seem logical for RL.

Obviously, this is not a major problem. Certainly not worth shipping to France. I just wanted to see if it was a common issue.

Otherwise, I have had it out of the box for about an hour and after a quick flight it really is as awesome as many of you have indicated.:D

Yes it is supposed to be like it is (i.e. the switch toggles forward).

It in fact is very logical: close, just a click and it closes, no need to remember to hold the switch. If you want to open it, you have to hold the switch for x amount of time.

I just figured out that it was correct. I went through the switch list in the manual and sorted out the momentary and permanent positions.

It did not seem correct to me because I am a lousy pilot and when landing some times I find myself feathering the speed brakes to pick up just a little speed. Again, lousy pilot here. Thanks though!;)

I must say though, the average fighter pilot must have larger hands than I, but then I am only 5'8" on a good day.

On a related note, i was wondering a while back whether pilots fly with the thing in the closed or mid position. With the WH, I put the brake switch in the mid position after the brakes have fully closed because I assume that results in no more DX presses going to the sim. Does that make any sense?

Sounds right. I am not at work so I can't check but just have a look in windows calibration tool (I will when I get home) to confirm.

Back to OMG TIS OWSOME!!111!!

I tried to fly with an old 3D force feedback stick I had and I just could not get my noggin around remembering all the keymaps and thought it was a wise move to grab the Warthog HOTAS. So glad I did because as you say OMGWTHBBQ!!
