City Builder Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Hi, Seeming to have a problem. If I try to play the sim in a window, then the Pause/Break button will allow the sim to start on quick start. If I try to play full screen, I press the Pause/Break button to start flying and it won't do anything, in fact no keys on the keyboard do anything, not even ESC to get out of it. I have to kill it from task manager to get our of the sim. Anybody know what the issue might be? Thanks This is the DCS Black Shark sim/game.
EtherealN Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Hey City, I'm the one who recommended you try here instead of the Steam forum. To start off, could you please upload a DxDiag file for your system? This would allow us to look at any known correclations to similar issues with drivers and keyboards. You can find directions on how to get the file uploaded here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=44466 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
EtherealN Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Thanks, I'm looking through it right now. Could you try setting your resolution to your monitor's native resolution (1920 x 1200) but keep the fullscreen selection unchecked; essentially, you should get what looks like fullscreen, but in pure technical sense isn't. I'd be interested to know mainly if the problem manifests in this case as well, and also if this setting looks different to true "fullscreen" (that is, do you see the window edges). EtherealN Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Do you have any other keyboard available to test with? It would be very weird for the keyboard to be causing this, but since the simulator goes through DirectInput for it's keyboard sensing it shouldn't matter whether it's fullscreen or windowed. Eliminating that possibilty might help us figure out what's happening. (I didn't find much indication that this specific keyboard was related to issues, but worth a look.) City Builder Posted September 16, 2011 Author Posted September 16, 2011 Tried that, still sim is not responding to keyboard or any other device (mouse, etc) It looks the same as full screen, but the sim won't start from the pause/break key. I don't know if this is normal or not, but when I do the quick start, and it loads, it is giving me a view of outside of the helicopter instead of from the pilots seat. Again, don't know if that matters any.
City Builder Posted September 16, 2011 Author Posted September 16, 2011 I'll see if I can dig up an old keyboard out of the garage once the sun comes up. It's about 4AM here so everythings a bit quiet in the house to go rummaging around in the garage right now.
EtherealN Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Hm. That's interesting. Just to make sure I understand this right: flying the same mission, if you are in windowed you'll get a pilot seat, but if in fullscreen (or "fake" fullscreen) you get an outside view? City Builder Posted September 16, 2011 Author Posted September 16, 2011 Found the problem. There was no hotkey assigned to the Pause function in the General keys, actually there are no key assignments to any of the keys in the general key assignments. Once I assigned the Pause/Break key to the Pause function, now it let's me play. Guess I'll have to go through it and assign keys to everything. Bummer as there looks to be a lot of key assignments that need to be made. Thanks for the help

I had to go find the default keyboard lua and replace usualy in the inputs folder, I have a back up of those.
