Nobody96 Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Is it just me or is it currently not possible to buy something in DCS's online shop? It seems that my login status gets resetted, everytime I follow a link. I would love to buy Blackshark for a friend and due to steams Euro = Dollar exchange policy, it is actually cheaper in the shop. so long Mathias My System: Intel Core i7-4770K, Asus ROG Strix RX480 O8G, 24GB Ram
EtherealN Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Are you using Chrome? I've seen that browser specifically giving me such issues. If that is the case, please try with IE or Firefox. toddbert Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Cant buy either I'd like to buy flaming cliffs 2 but at the moment the store ssl certificate seems to be broken so IE won't let me purchase. Its complaining about two things: 1. The root CA isn't trusted, seems to be issued by your own company 2. There seems to be a mismatch between the url the certificate was issued to and the one it is being used on
EtherealN Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 You can also purchase FC2 on Direct2Drive if this doesn't work at all. Sorry for the inconvenience, I just tested it out right now and IE didn't block me. All I had to do was click "allow" on the IE popup. Ghanja Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 I have a similar issue. I can't login using the IE 9. I can only login using Firefox. Is there something I have to adjust or enable in the IE security settings? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] .:: My System ::. .:: My Paintings ::.
Sublogics Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Cannot log in to DCS Site using Opera too. But it was working in the past. Using IE log in works. Trying with Opera it blanks the Username and Password fields as if i would have never entered anything. No further error message or something.
EtherealN Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Thanks Sublogics. Can you try the following procedure: 1 - Test in Opera. If it does not work: 2 - Clear out all cookies and browser cache 3 - Test again in Opera and see if it now works. That procedure seems to "fix" the problem for me, but I'd like some more data poinst before I submit it. Seems something is going wrong with either cookies or caching when you return to the site on a browser that you previously used to log in. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
Sublogics Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 After deleting all Cookies etc it works now. The same issue was on lockon.co.uk, the same solution works there too.
hawkeye62 Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Does anyone have a solution for the E-Shop? I have tried Chrome and IE with the same results, an error message that says username or password doesn't exist. Does the E-Shop use the same username and password as the forum? No problems logging on to the forum. BUT, I can;'t buy anything because of the error. Thanks, Jim
EtherealN Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Does the E-Shop use the same username and password as the forum? No. In fact, for security reasons, I would advice that you'd use something that is never displayed publicly as your login to anything that involves money. Just safer that way. empeck Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Any news on support for other browsers than IE/FF? I can't buy FC3 in Opera/Chrome, I can't even get to my existing serial numbers in those browsers. I don't have FF installed because I simply don't like it, and I don't want to put my credit card details in IE. After all those years it would be nice to fix the shop finally...
EtherealN Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 It is not a matter of support for a given browser. It is a matter of the cookie on your browser getting corrupted. Therefore, people who normally use IE can "fix" it through temporarily using FF or Chrome, people who use Chrome can "fix" it through temporarily using FF or IE, etcetera etcetera. I have used Chrome for my purchases. And everyone can fix it through clearing cookies in whatever browser they do use. Sure, and I have corrupted cookies on two different OSes, Vista Home Premium, and 7 Pro, two different browsers on two computers, and I have this problem since I bought BS2 upgrade. On ED's shop only. Edited November 9, 2012 by empeck
EtherealN Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 If you read my post again, you'll see that I have not contradicted that. ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
empeck Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 You could just pretend that you care. ;) ED's shop is the only place I have problem with cookies, I have bought four products here, and each time I had problems with constant logging in and out. I just pointed that there is a problem, and yes, I've tried removing cookies and logging back, without luck. As you can see in earlier posts it's not just mine problem. Clearly it's not PEBKAC issue. I've bought with paypal, case closed. Thank you.
EtherealN Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 I have not said it's PEBCAK. I have only said, very specifically, that this is not an issue with support for a given browser. If you use Opera as your main browser, the broken cookie which is a known issue will obviously occur on Opera. If you use Chrome as your main browser, the broken cookie which is a known issue will obviously occur on Chrome. If you use Firefox as your main browser, the broken cookie which is a known issue will obviously occur on Firefox. If you use Safari as your main browser, the broken cookie which is a known issue will obviously occur on Safari. If you use Internet Exploder as your main browser, the broken cookie which is a known issue will obviously occur on Internet Exploder. The problem is not any specific browser. The problem is not support for any specific browser. The problem is in a cookie getting corrupted. When you have the problem, using a different browser temporarily will "fix" it because that other browser will not have the cookie that is corrupted but rather gets a new, fresh, one. When you have the problem, clearing cookies will fix it because this means the corrupt cookie is no longer there and you get a new, fresh, one. This means that if you normally use Opera, and get the broken cookie, and then temporarily use Internet Explorer - it will work in Internet Explorer. THis means that if you normally use Internet Explorer, and get the broken cookie, and then temporarily use Opera - it will work in Opera. VO101_TB Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 :thumbdown:Come on EtherealN! Do you think that is the way it should be? Lots of guys are complaining, don't you think it is a real problem DCS should have solved already? I don't wanna believe that is a customer care policy at ED! If it is then you guys are killing your own business...

If it is then you guys are killing your own business... I haven't said that there is no problem. I also haven't said it should be ignored. The only thing I have said is that this is not a matter of "supporting" particular browsers. Is it bad customer care policy to correct misconceptions? There is, in particular, absolutely no need to switch to IE or FF. The cause of the problem is known and has absolutely nothing to do with which browser is used to access the site, as I have explained. The issue with "fixing" it is that the problem in question lies very deep in the underlying code, wherefore fixing it is way more complex than you might think. The "fix" basically requires replacement of the entire e-shop software if I have understood it correctly (not my field, but I've spoken to the engineer about it), which is a highly volatile operation since this would include migrating the customer database to a new system. Not something you do over a lunch break. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
