if you were going to post your writing online

would you blog it or create a website? I also want to give these stories mood and atmosphere with drawings and voice acting, etc so would it be better to create this blog or website with a software or learn to write the code from scratch? My goal is to showcase my work for people to enjoy for free. Of course, I ultimately hope my effort will lead to something interesting down the road for my family and me.

I look forward to your input and advice.

I think the twitter/tumblr combo works well. You can drive people to your blog, and tumblr allows for creativity. Your ultimate goal should be a core list of emails of online friends that would buy and support anything you put out in the future. You don't need many, but they have to be fans.

Viper, as much as I love flight sim, and thank you for the offer, bu this is about my other hobby which is writing fiction. A talent I did not realize I have that was discovered by accident by a dear friend who has been encouraging me to run with it ever since. I've been trying to brainstorm an idea for the most cost effective (read cheapest :D) way to showcase my stories. I've posted what I've written online to be critiqued and have gotten very possitive feedback, and feel it is time to walk the walk and put it out there. I just need to figure out a way to make it more visual and interesting for readers.

Doesn't matter how good a story is, a wall of text alone simply won't capture the imagination and inspire people to come back to a website. I think the only way to achieve that is to add just enough sound and visual FX to each story. Hence the original question of blog vs regular website. To be honest, I didn't really know the difference between the two until yesterday. I think for what I want to achieve, a website is much better, but I have no idea how to code a decent looking site to accomplish what I have in mind.

So now the question becomes, would Dreamweaver be suffice for my purpose or do I have to learn HTML, etc?

hassata,

Thanks for your advice, I honestly did not know what tumblr was until now. I've heard of it and thought it was like picasa but for facebook. Anyway, I just signed up. Thanks!
