I followed the guide to add JTAC to a test mission I've been working on for training. It has the HMMV vehicle close to four sam stela units and calling them. I have the designation set to WP, but when I call it in I get no mark each time. Is there a trick to getting JTAC to WP a target?

Ideally I'd like to set up the mission to have different JTAC so I can practice different designators so I can learn how to use them all.

Any suggestions?

Not all units are able to mark targets using all methods. Last time I tested HMMVV's can't designate by laser or IR-pointer. You would need to use a unit that has some kind of weapon, like the HMMVV armament.

Note though that that will likely fire on your units, so in the advanced waypoint options set their ROE (rules of engagement) under options or command to HOLD, and make the unit invisible and immortal. Also, be sure to set these options before assigning the FAC.

If this doesn't work I can make you an example mission, though there are already plenty of those on the forums.

There are only 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

So what vehicle would you suggest for FAC that can WP a target?

Like I said, try a HMMV armament (not sure what it is called in game).

Probably works too, I usually use HMMWV 50 cal or infantry for close quarters (all you get then is the coordinates, no data, IR pointer or anything. keeps it fun

Well the point is I"m trying to get them to do WP or mark them up. I'm still new and want to learn to find the enemy with JTAC help. Once I'm good enough I'll work from the cords alone from them.

See what you mean know. On the FAC assign group task set designation to WP, you can also set the weapon if you want that. Make sure the JTAC is within about two kilometers, he'll also probably give you a type 1. If he's too close he'll destroy the target so make sure he's no closer than a kilometre os so. two definitely works though.

I moved the units closer and changed it to armanment. The first target he said he marked with WP, but I didn't see it. After I destroyed it by knowing it's area after doing the mission several time, he gave me the next target - but no mark.

So they only mark the first target?

Not sure, I'll test this out.

EDIT: If you attach the mission (go advanced and paperclip icon) I'll have a look and try to figure this out.

Hi ;

Based on the tests I was doing, designations work according to the time of the mission....

For example, laser designation does not work before 6:30 am :music_whistling: The JTAC vehicle used, has been APC HMMWV M1025. Do not know if the armed version gives another result

Maybe to other designations as WP or IR pointer, is the same reason. Try changing the start time, and also note the terrain relief

Attaching mission. Thanks guys.

Here's what I'd like to do with it eventually. Make a backstory of how the red team just took over the base north of the one your at and are running low on fuel. They have a tanker on the shore filling up tanker trucks to bring fuel to their new base. If the fuel gets there the bomber can take off and attack your base.

So there are alot of elements, nothing is scripted yet and still needs a lot of work. But I wanted to get to marking part right before I went on.

Right, because it won't let me edit your mission (problem with saving apparently) I tested my own one by adding an extra target. Now it seems the mortar which is supposed to be the first doesn't get assigned.

OK. I played your mission again and find SAMs 2 and 3 are just too far away fo the jTAC. He marks 1+4 fine. Move the other two closer and he'll mark them. Around two kilometres is my guess. Maybe three
