I do not recall seeing this problem after upgrading to 0.9 but recently I have started getting really bad video distortion both in game and in the ME. I have reinstalled a new download of 0.9. Removed, including gutting the registry, the Nvidia drivers and reinstalled v275.33 (problem exists with 280.26 as well). Downloaded and installed a fresh copy of DirectX. Having just recently reinstalled Win 7-64 and everything that goes with that, I am obviously looking for a good target before I throw in the towel and rebuild the thing again.

Oh, and of course, I am not seeing a problem in other games....so far!

These things pop up while you are just looking at a static image on the ME, sometimes the screens will go blank as if the driver resets and then the zingers are all cleaned up for a little bit before coming back.

Any ideas?

Check your graphics card Heat sink for Dust?

Nate

Thankyou for putting the question mark at the end.;) By the time I posted I was pretty much coming to the 'it's gotta be hardware' point. Dust was not an issue, the card is less than 4 mo. old, but I was starting to like the idea of just reseating it.

That seems to have done the trick.

I must admit, having spent the '90s working for an OEM and

reseating boards thousands of times, it should have occurred to me sooner.

{You should see some of the screen shots I got just before I took it apart. Picasso would be proud.:D)

Glad you figured it out, I was certain it was hardware related, strange that only DCS exhibited problems.

Nate

I think that it is related to how the graphics are produced. It initially was springing from various items that were probably vector graphics. I was ready to order a new video card.

Just before I tore it down and DCS was in modern art land, I brought up ROF and had a mess a soon as the game graphics kicked in. There was no doubt that it was hardware at that point.

Thanks again,

EDIT: I am blaming it on the artillery practice at the marine base down the road!
