-Ice Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 I'm looking for something like this but with an A-10 cockpit rather than an F-16. Really interested in seat placement and space available for the pilot's legs inside the 'pit. Also for the "ergonomics" like how far away is the front dash from the seat. So far my google skills aren't helping. Thanks! - Ice
HitchHikingFlatlander Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Dimebugs drawings aren't good enough? I haven't seen anything with that detail around. Maybe you'll get lucky though. http://dcs-mercenaries.com/ USA Squad
Ragtop Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 I've done a lot of research recently and not found anything that close yet, but to be honest Dimebugs stuff is excellent, it'll get you most of the way there, with a bit of working out by looking at the real thing while using the measurements you do have to hand will help you work most other bits out. For instance, I couldn't find out how far apart the consoles should be, so I took what I did know and used that. I know from Dime's drawings how wide the front panel should be, and from KLaFaille's photo's , I knew where the consoles should sit in relation to it. To make certain, I got the measurements from ACES II links I could find, which all added up. 476th vFG Alumni
Rokmonkey Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 I don't know if you are going for something super realistic, or something close to get the A-10 feel. I'm working on a black shark pit, but my comfort while flying is far more important that exact dimensions. I took someones pit dimensions (sorry I can't remember the name right now) and have since tweaked them that fit my controllers and gauges and the like. What i'm saying is, just get close, uses Dimebugs dimensions as a start and tweak it to your liking.
Ragtop Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 +1. I found that while most dims are pretty comfortable, I've made my own adjustments now and then, how far forward the seat is etc, I felt a little far from the throttles and where the front panel will be, so I just shifted it a bit, that sort of thing really makes a difference when you're in game. 476th vFG Alumni
-Ice Posted October 6, 2011 Author Posted October 6, 2011 Sorry about that, I did know about Dimebag's PDFs but couldn't make sense of them until now. While this "solves" the console and front panel issue, I still don't know how far apart the consoles have to be with each other. However, I've got more than enough to work with and like Rok, I'm going for comfort first then realism, but I like to know what the "real thing" is before I tweak to my liking. - Ice
Ragtop Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Like I said, check out KLaFailles pictures, once you've cut out the front panel you can see that the consoles sit where the curved knee cutout ends. 476th vFG Alumni
